Q: Can you use this without a filter?

I’ve never tried it. I count on the filter to dispense clean mist.

Q: Can i add essential oil to the water?

No, don't! I added essential oil to mine and it started to deteriorate the seal in the tank. Over time, it will harm the plastic more and more. I had to buy a new one after i slowly destroyed the tank.

Q: How do you fill water tank...in sink or tub

I can fill mine in my bathroom sink.
