Good Value, 2 for 1 Convenience is Great for Travelers
In sum: If you are looking for a convenient travel tool and don't have demanding circumstances, this iron fits the bill. It is not the greatest hair tool ever, but it's not supposed to be. It's small, dual functioning, and ultimately gets the job done if you are familiar with basic curling/straightening techniques. Background: I am a frequent traveler, for work and pleasure, often carry-on only. Everything I pack has to fulfill more than one purpose, therefore I never felt I could justify bringing my curling iron. My hair is fine with a natural wave, reaches down to my shoulder blades. I will typically let my hair air-dry and use a curling iron as a "wand," twisting a 1-inch section of hair around the barrel, holding for 10 seconds before letting go. With a basic Conair curling iron set to 375 degrees, this creates soft waves without any hair spray. Results: I used the same technique with this travel iron, i.e. I kept it locked together and did not use the traditional curling lever. In short, this iron created the same waves. However, my technique was different: because the barrel is shorter, I recommend taking 3/4 inch sections so that more hair surface could fit around the barrel. The temperature was hot enough to curl my hair. The dual functionality was surprisingly handy; straightening my baby hairs is a much more effective way to control them. While I do share other's concerns that it doesn't clamp all the way together (which can cause some hair breakage), in a pinch this would straighten just fine.Travel Case: The traveling case is definitely tacky. The blue snakeskin has a glittery sheen. I have not tested its heat protecting capabilities, but I'm don't particularly need it. It is also rather large which defeats the purpose of a having a small, travel size iron. In the attached photo, I've compared this iron and case with my basic Conair iron and my keys for scale. The case is larger than the regular iron!Ultimately, however, I will travel with the iron alone because I can justify the small size and 2 for 1 functionality. I will report back once I test the dual voltage.

The thermal case is good but not high quality (basically gets the job done) ...
I bought this travel size iron because I needed something that would fit into a over the shoulder bag when I ride my motorcycle. The size fits perfectly. The thermal case is good but not high quality (basically gets the job done) since I have a tendency to unplug and throw the iron in my bag and not give it much time to completely cool so it is usually still quite warm so the case works to keep it from scorching the other items I put in the bag.I have used both the curling and the flat iron a few times now and the locking button worked well so no need to worry about struggling with it. It has one on and off setting so no temp control which did not concern me as I have fine hair so the temp was hot enough for my hair. If you have course hair you may need to work a little harder to get the effects you are looking for. It is a travel size iron so you are not getting all the bells and whistles of a salon quality iron.Curling iron was perfect for me. Keep in mind the barrel is shorter so you will need to make the sections smaller when curling also the guard tip at the end does get quite warm but it is so light I was able to use with one hand. The flat iron works but I did find with fine hair it did not seem to have a tight hold however with patience I got the results I wanted when I used the flat iron. (I do not straighten my hair often so this may just be the rusty skill set of the user :) ) I found this iron to fit my needs and am happy with my purchase.

Got the job done, great for traveling, wouldn't use daily
I bought this before taking a trip overseas. I planned to take a curling iron and straightener but i found this 2-in-1! It came much smaller than I expected so it saved space in my suitcase and was lighter than if I'd taken two separate hair irons (I'm one of those people that's always worried about hitting the weight limit for your bags on an airplane). I also like the heat protectant pouch it comes in and I ended up packing extra hair stuff in there for my trip!My only complaint is that it pulls your hair a bit and probably isn't great for the quality of your hair, but for under $30 that's the value you're paying for. I never curl my hair with a clamp iron and was still able to curl my hair nicely without opening the clamp. I wouldn't use this on a daily basis but will definitely bring it along for my next vacation!

Worked perfectly overseas. Perfect for travel!
I purchased this 2 in 1 curling iron/straightener for a trip I was taking to the Middle East and Africa. I had been researching and read that due to the change in voltage, regular US hair straighteners were catching on fire at foreign countries. That was a concern when looking for a straightener, hence the reason why I purchased this item. It’s dual voltage. Let me say it worked perfectly in Jordan as well in Egypt, with an attached converter obviously. The curling iron is the perfect shape. The flat iron works well enough for being a travel flatener. I only have one complaint. I have fine hair, and there is a crack between the handle and where straightener starts. I always get a strand of hair stuck there and end up pulling my hair. That’s it’s only flaw that I have seen, and I’ve had it for a year now. I take it with me every time I travel now! It’s so handy!

Curling is great but the straightener doesn’t work as well
Curling is great but the straightener doesn’t work as well. It doesn’t hold the hair securely in to straighten it.

Curling iron fine, flat iron part not so good.
Its compact and loved that it had flat iron and curling wand. I gave it a 2 star only for compact size and pouch. I have semi-thick hair, and the curling wand part was fine, but when I tried to use the flat iron portion, it didn't grip my hair. My hair just kept sliding through. It didn't seem to close tightly. Maybe mine was a dud. I was sad to return it as I was really hoping it would work.

Three Stars
Too hot should have a second alternative very dangerous to handle

but the quality of the item want the best. I cannot use the straightener as it doesn’t ...
Quick shipping, but the quality of the item want the best. I cannot use the straightener as it doesn’t close together properly. It does heat up fast and the curling iron part works ok.
