Best router I’ve had
Great quality, easy to setup, excellent signal and coverage. Interface (SRM) is intuitive and familiar with Synology NAS devices. Good mobile app. Lots of features that are easy to setup emotion in depth knowledge and guidance on the Synology website where needed is superb. Could be a bit prettier but that would be nitpicking!

Synology Mesh Network Has Issues
I've been using a Synologt 2600 for many years. Due to having a long bungalow I had the Synology towards one end and a Cisco wifi router connected to the Synology to boost signal at the other end of the house. This worked quite well. I upgraded to the Synology RT6600AX in part because of the promise of a smart seemless mesh networking system. I replaced both the previous routers with the RT6600AX routers. Kept them in identical places. But after many months I've abandoned the mesh system and now have them set up as a main router and a repeater. The mesh system was very temperamental. Older ( 5+ years ) hardware suffer very frequent drop outs, to the point of being barely usable. Newer hardware had less drop outs but never the less every so often will randomly disconnect every 6 hours approx. Since swapping back to the manual main router + repeater its worked so much better and no regular drop outs at all. Even the older hardware is suffering very few disconnections now. The mesh wifi networking promises a lot but too flaky to be usable, especially with older hardware.

A well build router with limitations
I have had this router for several months. I had a range of different routers like Ubiquiti Dream Machine, Edge - X, Huawei B535, and Bitdefender Box 2, before the Synology RT6600AX. I also have the previous model of Synology router RT2600ac and MR2200ac as a mesh setup. The positives - 1. Good hardware (vs 2600 and 2200) 2. It is a very solid router with many useful built-in apps like Threat Prevention, Traffic Management, and more. 3. Loan balance (Smart WAN) setting is surprisingly user-friendly. I am well impressed. 4. Synology support is generally good. 5. It delivers what a router should do i.e. I am on EE full fibre 900Mbps download 100Mbps upload package and the actual speed is close - but ONLY WITH ETHERNET (more on this later). The negatives - 1. SRM 1.3 has fewer features than SRM 1.2 - Synology removed a few useful features including the internet performance test option between APs. 2. VPN Plus (Synology SSL VPN) does not always work - it disconnects itself silently, which leaves you unprotected without warning. Keep in mind that if you were connecting to the Synology SSL VPN remotely, the DOWNLOAD speed on the VPN client will be capped by the UPLOAD speed of the network where the router locates. e.g. if you have 900 Mbps download speed and 100 Mbps upload speed at your office where the Router locates, the max download speed on your laptop (that connects to Synology SSL VPN) is capped at 100 Mbps, not the 900 Mbps. 3. Wifi performance - this is the biggest disappointment. It is MAXED at 500 Mbps download even if you are on a 1GB internet package. The upload speed via WiFi seems fine. To clarify, it is only the WiFi download speed that is halved. Wifi upload speed and ethernet download/upload speeds are fine and are close to the theoretical ISP speed. (If someone can get more than 500 Mbps wifi (not ethernet) download speed please correct me.) Otherwise, I would give it a big fat full 5-stars. Conclusion - another well-made router from Synology. It delivers what a router should do. I would still recommend buying it. But if you have the 2600 + 2200 mesh setup, do not upgrade to 6600 (and if you are on SRM1.2, do not upgrade to SRM1.3) unless absolutely have to. If you need more than 500 Mbps download speed on WiFi, do research first.

Impeccable

Excellent.
Best way I could find to create completely different networks. Means my son can connect without any risk of him introducing anything to our networks.

Absolut überzeugender High-End-Router! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
