A Superb Instrument
First off I feel it’s best to address the materials for this pencils construction. This Rotring 500 is both metal and plastic. Plastic being the barrel, clip, and push cap. The end between the barrel and push cap, the very tip an grip; being all metal. Now I’ve seen plenty of talk about hybrids like this, or anything that isn’t all metal being trash. However I’ve used all types and from personal experience the construction doesn’t really matter as much as certain critics would make it seem. Only way construction becomes an issue is if it was made poorly that it doesn’t function right and can’t handle the load of work put towards it despite being properly taken care of. Really it just comes down to preference and what feels more comfortable. Full plastic is cheaper and serviceable enough like the hybrid or full metal variants. But through experience my preference leans more towards the hybrid and full metal; simply cause I find myself liking metal grips better then rubber/plastic, and the weight feels nicer in the hand when drawing. That out of the way, let us get to the pencil itself. As said this is a hybrid, it has a nice balance of light and heavy between the plastic barrel and its metal ends. The grip is nice and has a good length of it, compared to my other brand pencils that have lesser length in grip. End part that is twistable to highlight what grade of lead your using, is a nice novelty. Discharge of the lead is smooth and doesn’t have any jamming. It’s a very comfortable pencil that was built well to work. I like this Rotring over my Staedtler, Faber Castell, and Pentel pencils. I would say the hype is real for this brand and is one I’ll likely buy from more of in the future should I need another pencil or replacement.

The last pencil youll ever need!
These are the best mechanical pencils imo, this is the cheaper version, i believe the only difference is the its not all metal. I have probably 20 of these, any time i see a color i dont have i buy it. The .5 lead is my go to size, but i use all of them for one thing or another. The functionality is perfect, its weighted perfect and feels amazing in hand. Its a sharp looking pen

Don't hesitate.
This is my first Rotring pencil. The quality is amazing. I love the design and functionality. It is very comfortable in my hand and I couldn't be happier. Time to buy a nicer model now that I know their quality is legit.

Works perfect, looks great. Simple, dependable, stylish. Well-priced.
The series 500 has a matte plastic body that feels warm, silky, and soft to the hand. White, red, black, and a sliver of chrome complement and contrast each other quite beautifully. The look is minimalistic, bold, and sporty yet elegant. Lighter that their higher series all-metal pencils, it does have all-metal tips with knurled finish. I own several rotring instruments, and this is a nice addition to my rotation. If you like the looks, you can't go wrong with this brand.

Happy with item, unhappy with the packaging that was cut open and sent to me
Pencil works fantastic, as I expected it would. However, whoever chose the item from the shelf needs to be sat down. The packaging was all cut open. Why would someone choose that from the shelf to send out to a customer? I was expecting a new item, and believe it was, but the shape the packaging was in was a let down. Only reason I am marking it down a star is due to the packaging/presentation.

Rotring 500
No sense in dragging out a long review here, but i’ll Do it anyway. It’s a Rotring Mech. And anybody that knows anything about Rotring knows that they make the best mechanical pencils and this Rotring 500 is no exception to that fact. It’s strong, sturdy, smooth, well balanced, and will last for years, as all Rotring pencils do. People that continue to buy Rotring mechs don’t do it because they need to replace old ones. They do it to collect new ones. New models, new colors, and a new piece of mind that Rotring still hasn’t lost its superiority. Yes, there are other great mech companies out there I have in my collection, and Rotring isn’t even my favorite. But they do make the most well built pencils on the market. You might ask how could Rotring not be my favorite if I consider them the best built mechs. Well, because I also have some Koh-I-Noor Rapidomatic pencils in my collection. And I would be a fool to not consider them worth their weight in gold. However, this is a Rotring review and all the proof that you need to realize that Rotring is the finest built mech, is to go ahead and buy your first Rotring mech pencil. It definitely won’t be your last. You will continue buying them every chance you get.

Great pencil. Buy it and keep it for a long, long time.
Sometimes I think I'd like others, and I do. Sometimes I think a 600 would be better, and in some ways it is. Sometimes it's not my go to. But there's nothing quite like it. Since I got my first (similar) Kohinoor in 1989-ish, which I still have, I keep coming back to these as the awesomest.

結局500が最強。
箱付きのように見えますが、箱はありません。 今後使用していって、樹脂部分がどのように経年劣化していくのか見物です。 他の色は明らかに樹脂感がありチープに見えてしまうので、白色は果たしてどうなのか……。
