Updated: This is quite awesome. And the seller is paying attention.
So I originally gave this product a three-star review and described it as pretty, but not really much more or different from any other pretty little night light. And then the seller followed up with a comment (below) that made all the difference. You can remove the top!Now this isn’t altogether obvious, as the top fits quite snugly and there are no handles or notches or anything visible like that to indicate removability. And our unit at least didn’t come with instructions in the box, though the uses of each of the buttons are easy enough to figure out.So we had no idea that the top came off until the seller posted the follow-up comment to my review. This is one of the reasons I absolutely love Amazon reviews—because quite often either others’ reviews or sellers’ comments are incredibly helpful to purchasers and to would-be purchasers alike.Anyway—we took the top off. And it *is* a projector. In fact, it’s quite awesome, and the kids love it. I like the pure white still mode, but of course the kids prefer it will all four colors (red, green, blue, white) on and rotating. They were incredibly excited to discover that the top can be removed and to see how much cooler this is with the top off! So—kudos to the seller. Here is someone that is paying attention and cares about customer satisfaction—notice how diplomatic and helpful the comment was. And—the kids absolutely love this now that it projects across the ceiling and walls. Well worth the price, and mea culpa for the previous three-star review. If you get this and find it to not be what you were expecting, remove the top. There’s no particular “trick” as far as I can tell—just grab and carefully pull until it pops off—and you’ll have stars and a moon spread across the entire darkened room.

I would classify this a prime example of the definition of 'average'.
First off, I'm a 30-year old, and I bought this. If you're an adult and looking to purchase one of your own, have no shame. Pull the trigger. But - not this one. My worry is that most of these $20 pieces of plastic are cranked out at the same factory, but I really just have one major gripe that warrants the 3-star rating. It's the noise. After about 7-10 days, the rotating motor in this thing is so obnoxiously loud that it's almost unbearable. For me, that's not such an issue - I wear earphones to sleep, but for my wife, it's an absolutely dreadful noise. It sounds like grinding plastic in an almost 'static-like' pattern (think radio static gaining and losing amplification). It's tremendously disruptive. That said, as others have mentioned, any distance between the wall/ceiling that you will be projecting on creates some pretty spectacular blurring of the images, but I don't really know how you could get around that in what is a basically a toy. You're not re-creating 4k images of the solar system here, and to expect that would be naĂŻve strictly on your part. Could it be better? For sure. Do I care? Not really. The only reason I picked one up is to help me change up from counting sheep when I can't fall asleep, but, as mentioned above, the noise has really dampened my spirits on that one.I will try a different brand in the coming days. Overall on this one, I'd say pass. Spend a little more in the hopes that you get a better product. Thanks for reading!

Projector for my toddler and baby
Update - the 2nd projector in my order stopped working last week. Sent another video, received a new one quickly.Customer service is great, its not a hassle and I appreciate that there weren't any issues on that end. However this product is not good. Both lights failed within 3 months. The projector sent last month to replace the 1st broken one has been making a weird sound and tonight it fell off the armoire and woke my daughter, scaring her something silly. The light was about 6 inches from the edge so confused how it happened other than maybe that cranking sound is actually making it move a little at a time.Good customer service but unfortunately its not a good product. I will leave my original review below.Bought 2 of these projection lights for my kids. One of them stopped working after 2 months. I purchased this light because I liked the 1 year warranty on it. Contacting the company was easy enough. They did ask for video proof of it malfunctioning and they sent a replacement. I think it was within the week that I received the replacement and my daughter could take her naps again with her favorite colors projecting.A little weary about one only lasting 2 months so only 4 stars but the lights are great, project strong and clear but not too bright with various color options.

Bought 2, both defective
I have bought and now returned this nightlight twice. The product is not made well. The first one worked for about a month before both the blue and green LED lights stopped working. I contacted the manufacturer first, as the Amazon price had increased by $1 and I wanted a replacement but didn't want to pay more. The company told me to take a video of their defective product and upload it to YouTube. What??? I'm not going to all that trouble for this piece of plastic c**p. So I repurchased it on Amazon at the higher price. (Amazon, of course, let me return the bad light for free.) On day 3 of using the new light, it started flickering and within 1 hour of being on, it just stopped working. None of the 3 colors will turn on now, only the white light.I am returning #2 and purchasing a different brand now.I had high hopes for this light. We need one that is bright and does not turn off automatically after a short time. This light fits both of those requirements but, unfortunately, too many of them are lemons.I do not recommend buying this nightlight.

Versatile
"Starry night" might be an understatement. If you don't keep the lid on it it looks like 4th of July fireworks going on in your little one's room. with the lid on its a very nice glowing nightlight. I don't recommend using batteries with it as it goes through them very quickly. The wired charger is really the only convenient way to power it and plugs right into an iPhone plug.
