A Fine Product Provided by a Company with Superior Customer Service
This pillow is a high-end product, provided by a small company that gives its customers top-notch service. I have now used the pillow for about ten days, and I find it much more comfortable than propping myself up on multiple pillows. It definitely aids in controlling my GERD (acid reflux), which I also control with a low dosage (10 mg.) of Prilosec, under the guidance of a gastroenterologist. The memory foam makes the pillow very comfortable, and the angle of the slant is perfect for my six-foot frame. The included cover is very good quality, but because it is made out of microfiber and takes some time to manipulate over the pillow, I am finding it even more comfortable to place a 100% cotton sheet on top of the covered wedge pillow; that way, I don't have to wash the zippered pillow cover/case every time I change the sheets, and I also enjoy the softer feeling of the cotton. --The microfiber cover is also soft, but I just like the superior softness of cotton over it.I find that with this wedge pillow, I benefit from using my own regular pillow on near the top of the wedge to cradle my head. I never feel as if I am elevated too much. Although it is true that I sometimes slip down during the night, I used to do that some with my stacked pillow arrangement, and I'd also wake up with a stiff neck and some back pain. With the wedge pillow, I find that I wake up refreshed, and I also sleep better than I did before. For me, the pillow works perfectly for sleeping either on my side or my back.My only complaint about the product has to do with the standard packing and shipping method that the company uses through Amazon. To save shipping costs, the company compresses and shrink wraps the pillow in a twisted cylindrical bundle. That tubular compressed mass is then double boxed. When I received my pillow, I carefully unwrapped it, and let it pop back to the original size for four or five hours. However, I noticed that when I lay down on the pillow flat on my back that first evening, the left side of the pillow had a rigid spot of 1 1/2 to 2 inches. In addition, the left side of the original pillow never fully straightened out, despite my best efforts of trying to hand manipulate and re-shape the pillow.Neither problem rendered the pillow unusable. However, with the curved left side the pillow clearly did not match the picture of the product, and the rigid spot on the left side was a little uncomfortable if I shifted that far to the edge. To their credit, when I told the company about these two issues, they insisted on sending me a replacement pillow, which is the one I am now using. (They attributed the rigid spot to some hardened glue improperly concentrated in one spot by their contracted manufacturer). I received the replacement pillow in a few days. It was superior to the original one, but it had been packed and shipped much differently: it arrived in a larger box, and only folded slightly (instead of compressed, twisted, and shrink-wrapped into a bundle). I threw out the original pillow, because the replacement was so much better, and I saw no need to keep the imperfect one.As I mentioned above, this is a GREAT company, with EXCELLENT customer service. They check in with their customers via e-mail to make sure they are satisfied. My only reservation is that, in my experience, their shipping method does not make sense to me. However, it may be that most pillows arrive in fine condition with their method, and I definitely recognize that it keeps shipping costs and thus the price in a reasonable range. Nonetheless, as a customer, I would have preferred to pay more for shipping to receive the product _once_, without the problem apparently caused by the compressed and shrink-wrapped shipping method. Unwrapping the shrink wrapped product was a bit cumbersome, and it was disappointing that the pillow never fully straightened.I am so glad, however, that I now have a perfect wedge pillow, and because the company has made good on their otherwise fine product, I give them my highest recommendation: A+!

Great, really comfortable wedge pillow for people with reflux and maybe sleep apnea
This is a really excellent wedge pillow that is comfortable and helps with reflux (GERD or LPR.) Details follow. PACKAGING UPDATE IN NEW PACKAGING PARAGRAPH.Packaging: I've ordered two of these now, so yes - I like them. They were packed differently. The first came folded in half, inside a loose-fitting plastic bag, that was inside the shipping carton. The second was folded in half like the first but inside a vacuum-sealed plastic bag, that was folded in half again and held closed with clear shipping tape, that was itself inside a (smaller) shipping carton. Both expanded out fine - see setup below. Why the difference? I asked the manufacturer and they responded very promptly!! MedSlant has been experimenting with different packaging to (a) avoid carrier surcharges due to larger dimensions, (b) give quality results (e.g. smooths out well upon unpacking), and (c) use minimal extra material for environmental friendliness. The vacuum bag packing (my second pillow) was introduced most recently.Setup. Eh? Yes, setup. Per instructions, simply unwrapping the wedge and laying it out on a flat surface (e.g. the bed) for a few hours got it flat. From the product description you may notice that the wedge has mostly "regular" foam with a layer of memory foam on top. Since you want to sleep on the memory foam, there is a "top" and "bottom" to the pillow. You can check that the memory foam layer is on top by unzipping the cover a few inches. The thinner memory foam layer is readily visible. Also, for my pillow, when the labels on the back of the pillow were right-side up and readable, the memory foam was on top. (It would help if the manufacturer made this clear.)Placement 1, the pillow. Put it on top of the mattress and any mattress sheet with the 7" edge at the head of the bed, at the headboard if any.Placement 2, your body. I find the pillow very smooth, soft to the touch, yet firm as is needed to provide support. The thin edge is indeed quite thin. No bumps that might be uncomfortable. Your head does not have to be all the way up to the top of the wedge although the higher it is, the more potential benefit. Your waist should be at the bottom edge of the pillow or slightly onto the pillow. This avoids bending of the spine (uncomfortable) and stomach (could exacerbate reflux.) When on my back I find having my waist an inch or so onto the pillow is comfortable. When on my side I tend to raise myself yet an inch or so higher onto the wedge pillow.Firmness. Several previous reviewers commented that the pillow seems very hard. This is quite different than my experience. It seems a very good balance of soft to the touch, firm support, and giving / forming to the body. In the past I only slept upright on occasion when I had a bad cold and I used a backrest to sleep almost upright. I've also sometimes bundled pillows under my shoulders, neck, and head for a similar reason. This wedge pillow is FAR more comfortable than either of those arrangements. And, since it is a smoothly sloping wedge it is better for the back and stomach/esophagus.Odor. I've got a pretty good sense of smell. I can't smell anything from the pillow - NO chemicals, etc. from the foam.Height. An article on the Mayo Clinic website recommends elevation of 6" to 9" for reflux. This 7" height is in the range and I find it quite comfortable. It took a couple nights to get used to the slope. It seems much easier to use than the 10" and 12" heights pillows I've seen around although I've not used those higher versions.Length. The 32" length works well for me. It gives a gradual slope and I can adjust my position to maximize comfort.Width. The 30" width is also quite useful, especially for sleeping both on the back and on the side. You can roll over without rolling off the pillow.Pillows. Yes, use your regular pillows on top of the wedge. Think of the wedge as an inclined bed. You'll still need whatever regular pillows you usually use.Two people of widely differing heights found it very comfortable.MedSlant, the seller. They are very responsive. It's the first time I got a personalized email telling me it was on the way and then again a few days later checking how it was after receipt. Both emails had some useful tips. As indicated above they also responded extremely quickly to my packaging question. Great customer service. We bought a second one for another family member.Strongly recommended. If you found this review useful please let me know by voting for it.

Very comfortable wedge pillow for helping to relieve acid reflux
I was diagnosed with acid reflux. One of the things my doctor suggested was to elevate the top of my bed. My husband was not a great fan of that so I started Googling alternatives on the internet. I looked at many wedge pillows and read reviews from people who have used them. I came across this pillow on Amazon and read the reviews. The things that attracted me to this wedge pillow was it was wider than the others so it gave me more space to roll over without falling off. We have a king size bed so the pillow does not get in my husband's way while sleeping. I also like that it has a layer of memory foam. I have a memory foam pillow and we also have a foam mattress. I use the wedge pillow and my pillow to sleep on but I have read other people just use the wedge to sleep on. The pillow case is soft and comfortable. The wedge very light weight but sturdy to support your body. If this is something I wanted for myself, I would give it "I love it" rating. It is very comfortable and I do not slide down like some other people have mentioned. The idea of elevating the upper part of my body to help prevent acid reflux was my doctor's idea. Otherwise I would not have purchased the wedge. I am not sure if elevating has helped relieve acid reflux or not. I have used the pillow for 4 nights. I would say that if people need to elevate the upper part of their body, this wedge is certainly worth the price you pay. I am sure it will last for years. Yes it was more expensive that some of the other choices I reviewed, but I think it is totally worth it.
