Finally Got this Chefman Sous Vide! wish I'd done it sooner...
I've been looking into Sous Vide cooking after my trip in France, I finally pulled the plug on this model and couldn't be happier with this purchase.A few days ago I tried it for the 1st time I can’t believe how good it taste, Then I used it again, you name it I cooked it (eggs, steak, roast, vegetables, fish, desert toppings.. and even used it to ripen fruit!) Not a single complaint. I won't bore you with descriptions of how the juicy or wonderful or delicious meals have been as its already been said dozens of times in these reviews. If you are considering this purchase, just be aware you can't use it to cook a meal in a hurry and you need to plan ahead. (Think of it like cooking with a crock pot... low temperature cooking over long periods of time ... slow and steady) .NOTE: and don’t forgot a simple zip lock bag dose the trick, You absolutely DO NOT .. I repeat you DO NOT need a vacuum sealer or Food Saver type of appliance to use this cooker! A zip lock bag works just as well. And also I was very impressed of the super low noise this is a 1000w motor and it’s still a very low noise. I just love this Chefman sous videLast... you also DO NOT need one of those large clear containers you see being used with many of these Sous Vide cookers. Just clamp this unit on to the edge of any large pot you have and it works great. Just be aware when cooking for long periods (like cooking a tough cut of meat for 24 hours) water will evaporate so you want to make sure the water is always covering the food being cooked and to add more water if necessary.

Defective thermostat
This unit looked like a nice unit. Worked great for about 5 or 6 times. Was cooking potatoes at 190deg and unit got to 181.3 and stopped working. Let it get cooled down and plugged it back in and the dial still read 181.3, even in cold water. Got discussed and just threw it in the trash. Sorry Chefman.***UPDATE***Alex at the Chefman Team read my review and even though I threw mine in the trash he sent me another unit because this outfit seems to really care about their customers. That being said, I opened the box and found a used unit. I figured it was a rebuilt unit and put some water in my container to give it a test drive. The unit says 32 deg when in hot water from my faucet. I hit the scroll wheel and put it on 135 deg and hit the button and this unit won't even turn on. Come on now....what's next? I just threw it in the trash too. Thanks for nothing. Won't be shopping any time too soon from Chefman.***UPDATE***Alex read my review and got back with me. Took a while but it happened. He says Amazon dropped the ball on the last unit when they sent me a returned unit that was defective. He was floored that that happened and promptly sent me another unit. I opened up the box and found a brand new unit with the seals still intact. I haven't test driven it yet but I'll give him a five star for the effort to make it right. Thanks, Alex. Hope we don't have to go through this again.

Failure!!!!!!!
So disappointed. No star would be correct. Set everything up as instructed. Mixed my egg bites. Machine started countdown for reaching requested temperature. Then done!!!! Shut down. Beeped. Could not get it restarted. Not sure I didn’t receive a used one also. I had purchased everything to have a fun weekend of making egg bites, cheesecake in a jar, and yogurt but machine never worked. So sad.UPDATE: At this time the company has offered to stand behind their product and replace the defective one. Stay tuned as I hope to have a positive review soon.UPDATE #2. Still haven't heard back from the company and have not to date received a new machine. Feel free to read my review on CISNO sous vide, "A perfect addition to your kitchen"

The app is pretty basic and you cannot control it through your phone
This works very well. If you are new to sous vide, this machine is a snap. The app is pretty basic and you cannot control it through your phone. But if you simply work it with basic recipes you will be fine. It looks sturdy and I have used it for about a week cooking fish, chicken, pork and beef. If you want to do cheap cuts of beef and make people think they are eating filet, this is the way to do it. This type of cooking is for the meal you have a lot of time to cook. You don't rush home and sous vide unless you are Latin, had your siesta and are planning on dinner at 9 p.m.I drop one star because of the clip. While it is convenient to just clip it onto a pot, the pot cannot have a rim or sloping sides otherwise the device will not sit vertical. While it still works, the water will not circulate the way it should. I found that the square shaped plastic measuring containers they sell at restaurant supply places work best. Also, put a towel under the pot if you are cooking for long or using high heat. It could mar wood finishes. All in all. A good addition to the cooking ars

Yes Yes! MasterChef With Chefman
After researching all sous vide in the market I finely got this one Just love it after using it everyday since I got it its Fantastic At first the design and features is great and so easy to useNow I prepared my steak marinated with the flavor I like it sealed it in a zip lock bag, took a bucket and its ready to goSet it up at desired temp. for 90 min and went shopping upon return I got so amazing delicious steak it was wonderfulAnd yes I am now a Master chef!!!And BTW no need any vacuum or sealer just used a simple zip lock bag with this Chefman sous videThe next day did 3 different cuts of steak, beef short ribs and eggs. It's a fun and fairly no fuss way of braising. I start the meat hours prior and when dinner comes, I remove the meat, dry it and sear it for a couple minutes in a cast iron grill pan. You get all the flavor of a grilled steak with the tenderness of braised meat. Such tender meat! You should really try brats with onions this way (hint, sear the brats on a grill or grill pan first, add onions and sous vide in beer or hard cider). One day I did a 24hr Rib cook, and found out we need a large bucked or refill water a few times since water level get lowI just love and highly recommended
