We just received our fire pit and there is a terrible odor and smoke. Is that normal for a first burn? Will that resolve for future burns?

Hello, did the odor come from the smoke or something else? What kind of wood did you use to burn? Please try it again another day. The fire pit is made of metal and it's not supposed to have odor while burning the woods. Please let us know what happens for the second burn. Thank you very much.
