Hal Leonard Baritone Ukulele Chord Finder

Pretty much every doggone chord you will ever need, I think...
I bought this book because I was going to a Hootenanny with my friend this past weekend (google that word, kids) and we had baritone ukuleles, the rest of the attendees had soprano ukes, and we needed to be able to transpose in a hurry. This book saved the day! Now most people know that a baritone ukulele is the 4 highest strings of a standard guitar, tuned D-G-B-E. Most guitar chord books would also work just fine for this purpose, but it is extremely helpful for me and the way I learn things, that I have a book designed specifically for my instrument. My fingers are extremely short and I cannot really play a standard guitar beyond just a few basic chords, and forget barre chords or anything complex. But with this book and my Rogue Baritone Uke, I can rock on with complete reassurance that I am doing it right! Five Stars.

Bigger than expected, excellent
Does the job and has everything I need. However, I thought it would be the same size as the original GCEA uke book but it’s much larger. Luckily it fits in my baritone case like I wanted. I’ll have to look closer before I buy I guess.🤷🏽♂️ Review part two: Has every chord I need- perfect for those days when I can’t remember the shape for Bb7#5 and don’t feel like figuring out by hand. If you think this song won’t have all the chords you need, and you’re really playing songs that have chords not mentioned in this book, you probably have the skills to figure it out on your own anyways. It’s great to have, even if you can do it on your own. That’s exactly how I use it.

Useful for casual players
Useful enough due to the low price, but it only has about 85 different shapes which are just moved up or down the neck to fit the key of the moment, thus giving you theoretically more than 1,000 chords. If you know any music theory, you really don't need 11/12ths of this book, yet in a pinch It could be handy. Who wants to sit down and figure out a shape when you can just look it up? I won't digress into the many benefits of actually thinking rather than just looking things up here. Suffice it to say that the more you think about your fretboard and how it's laid out, the more sure is your knowledge base. It is certainly useful for people who don't know any theory, or are just casual players.

Great ukelele reference work
Well laid out and complete tome . PERFECT for chord analysis and use. Great reference for my baritone ukulele, and by transposing chords with my tenor ukelele, it's a great reference for that also. I. E... ..baritone G chord is a C chord on the tenor, D is G, F is Bb, C is F, etc.

Good reference book
This is a good book to have on hand to help you with common and not-so-common chords. I keep it accessible so I can expand my knowledge of chords and my abilities to play. Good reference book to keep in hand.

Love it up the fretboard
I like that it not only includes the open and first position chords but shows two other positions of each chord directly below it. Also includes a helpful introduction about triads, intervals, inversions and a list of 28 different chord qualities

Very thorough
Very thorough. I don’t think there’s a chord left out. Easy to find the chord you’re looking for. A little cumbersome because there’s so many pages but for ease get a simpler less complete chord chart

Do You need over a thousand Chords?
I imagine if you are supremo ukulele player a thousand chords might be useful, but for the bog standard uke player like myself, I can usually get by on 21 chords, 7 majors, 7 minors and 7 sevenths. That said I did use it to find three variations of F Sharp minor. So it is always there for a reference. I found it quite laborious turning through 95 pages to find chords.
