Does the job
It took my wife and I four hours to install. So like many other reviews state, be ready to spend time installing. Instructions could be improved if hardware packet numbers didn't have inconsistencies with the instructions and if the instructions stated the allen wrench or socket size for each step.Adjusting the tension, one of the last steps, is really hard. You're gonna feel like you're doing it wrong or that it isn't working, but eventually the tension adjusts and your tv can stay lowered without the safety bolt. It's a 1/2" socket. It definitely pulls the TV off the wall a good bit, which is great if you have a deep mantle, but not ideal if your mantle is less than 8" deep. The TV is further away from the wall when in the up position, than I would prefer.Overall, it works great, is very substantial, does what is says it does and you can't see the mount when the TV is in the up position.

Very sturdy.
This TV mount provided an excellent option for us to mount our television. It is very sturdy and rather heavy so it’s a two-man job for installation. The installation went well however.

Sturdy mount with good function (if your cables are in the right place!)
This mount easily handles my 65" HDTV and allows up/down movement without fear of it breaking or falling off the wall. The assembly and installation were pretty typical for a large TV mount. Neither too complicated nor really easy. Follow the instructions and it will work. Mounting a wide soundbar required a little DIY engineering, but there are additional kits for that sold by the manufacturer. For the price, they should be included. One thing you must pre-plan for is cabling location. Most home-builders seem to install the electrical receptacles and cable/internet receptacles perfectly centered, in exactly the spot one would mount a TV. This is has been true for me in multiple houses, over the fireplace mantel and on bedroom walls. The wall mounting plate is large and sturdy and the pivot mechanism is mounted to it in the center (only). While the mounting plate has big cut-outs for your cabling on either side of center, you are out of luck if your outlets are *exactly* where you need to mount the TV. You get a little wiggle room vertically, depending on how you mount the rails to the back of the TV, but not the 6-8" required to clear the outlets. You will be faced with the choice of mounting the TV in a non-ideal location or re-running your power, video, and ethernet cables. So, if you are sure you are going to choose this mount, make sure you or your builder/installer puts the outlets ~10" right or left of the center of where your mount will attach to the wall. I had to re-run my power cable through my AV conduit - not ideal.I really like the mount, but because the center section is solid, the cables were way more work than I had anticipated.

It needs careful measuring to get the placement right - the results are worth the effort.
I installed the Mantle Mount today on a stone faced concrete fireplace. Instead of using the supplied mounting bolts I purchased lag bolts made for concrete and a matching drill bit. I used my hammer drill with the bit to install the base. The directions were accurate and complete with one exception, there is no instruction for how to determine where to mount the TV on the two verticals rods. After pondering the question for a while, I choose to use the bottom most slot in the bottom holes of the TV and the upper hole which made the lower screw touch the bottom of the slot. This means I mounted the TV as low on the rails as possible. This turned out to be correct. It allows the most adjustment for the extensions when mounting a sound bar. One word of caution to other installers. If the IR receiver for your TV is on the bottom of the TV be sure to allow extra space between the sound bar and the TV. I initially installed the sound bar touching the bottom of the TV. This completely blocked the TV remote when the TV was in the raised position. After I lowered the sound bar by adjusting the extension, all was well. Overall the mount works well. It is sturdy and it allows my wife to easily lower and raise our 90 pound 80 inch TV with. No more strained necks for us when watching TV over our fire place. Thank you Mantle Mount.

Perfect for the space
This mount turned out to be exactly what we needed. We had to have a professional install it for us, who did a great job by the way, and it turned out great. The unit performs as described. It's easy to maneuver and tilts left and right easily. We mounted a Sonos soundbar below the mount with no problem. Great unit.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Definitely NOT for 85” tv
This is definitely not for the large 85” TV. The lift is strong and works as advertised but the tv support is flimsy, and barely cover the back of a large tv, so when you move it, shakes and moves all over the place, almost like is at the limit to support a 95 pnd tv.I do not understand why they over-designed the weight capacity and performance to the support and the liftto waste it on a such a small tv support.I had no choice but install the tv and do my own design to reinforce the tv support.Very disappointed.

Perfect for above fireplace mount
Super heavy duty. Required more adapters for fitting my Samsung oled tv but other than worked flawlessly. Neck pain free tv watching.

Excellent and great instructions
Very well made and the installation instructions are some of the best I've ever seen. Installation isn't the easiest thing ever, but the guide gives you the very best shot at getting it right the first time, which I did. Unit works great. Operation is smooth, TV stays where you put it. Only very minor complaint is that the cable routing inserts they included don't click in properly to the unit. But I can find another way to do cable routing.
