Great Value
It’s a little messy but very satisfying and easy to use! I pitted three pounds of cherries in under 15 minutes, and the fruit didn’t get smooshed. The handle is comfortable and sturdy. A little bit of juice splattered but it was very minimal, and I just kept a damp rag handy to wipe up when needed. Using a deep bowl was also helpful! As someone with arm/hand strength issues, I would totally recommend this to others with similar issues. Very pleased with this pitter!

Works great and the splatter is easy to control.
The first one sent to me was packaged poorly and the plastic shield was shattered into almost a dozen pieces. I requested a replacement and it came in fine. To solve the splatter problem I put a plastic, 8 oz glass in the sink. After carefully orienting the cherry so the pit will be in line with the plunger I put the bottom of the splash shield just below the rim of the glass and squeeze the handle. Just about all of the splatter goes into the glass and I can see if I got the pit or not. When I'm done I just wash the glass and rinse the sink if any splatter got out. Easy.

Check for missed pits!
The pitter looks & feels well-designed, and it works fairly well; I suppose this is about as good as it gets? However, it DOEN’T ALWAYS GET THE PIT OUT - sometimes what goes flying is just a chunk of the cherry itself - and I’m grateful I didn’t hurt myself the first two times I used it and my teeth found a pit halfway through my bowl of granola. I have started holding it over a paper towel rather than over the trash so I can see what comes out each time. If there’s any doubt (sometimes the pits fly off so fast I don’t see them), I collect those cherries and slice them in half before putting them into anything, to make sure the pit is gone. I also got red splatters on my yellow shirt the first time I used it despite the built-in shield, so now I know it requires an apron. All these extra things - paper towel, knife, cutting board, apron, and sponge for the counter - makes me less likely to reach for it if I’m just pitting cherries for my granola. If they’re just for me to eat, I’ll use my old method of putting the cherry halfway into my mouth and biting it so I’m left holding a pit-free half in my hand; drop that on the cereal, rotate the cherry in my mouth, grasp the other half of the cherry with my hand and bite off the pit; then drop fruit on cereal and pit in trash. It’s faster, requires no equipment, doesn’t usually splatter, and juice-stained fingers are apparently still part of the experience even with the pitter. I will just use the pitter if I’m putting cherries in a fruit salad, pie, etc, for other people to eat, so maybe once or twice a year? It does still beat cutting the pit out of every single cherry with a knife! Grain of salt time: I have never used a cherry pitter before, so maybe this one actually does really well compared to others, and stray pits are a normal thing?

This has solved my life's problems
My young kids are OBSESSED with cherries. I was slogging away for 2 years cutting cherries by hand or pitting them with a metal straw. Then it dawned on me that hey, I deserve a cherry pitter. If you are like me, you may think a cherry pitter is too niche of an item and thus frivolous. Nay! It is not just for fancy folks or people who make pies. This cherry pitter has given me new life. My husband who previously refused to give the kids cherries, is now pitting them all on his own...even taking the pitter from my willing hands to do it himself. Wha? Yes. He went from a never-pitter to a pitter enthusiast overnight! So, pros: easy to clean, cherries don't stick. Has a lock to keep it closed when not in use. No sharp parts to worry about. No disassembly to clean. Put the cherry in, squeeze, and boom. Comfortable to hold as all OXO products are. I looked at the 6ct tray pitter they also carry, read those reviews, and went with this one since it seemed like it would be easier and faster to do the same motion over and over. There is a juice shield Cons: Cherry juice still shoots out the juice shield. The first time or two you might pinch your skin trying to block the cherry juice from squirting you. Don't put your second hand too close- just block, don't hold. Sometimes the cherries are a little too big to fit into the holder, just gotta squeeze it in there. Sometimes, the pit gets stuck or shoots out the side. If that happens, it tends to split the cherry open on one side. It is easy enough then to remove by finishing that split, but counting the number of pits to cherries is a pretty good idea. Once you get the hang of it, you'll know which way to rotate the cherry for maximum pitting efficiency.

Works great so far for cherries
I bought this cherry pitter because my old one broke, and I wanted something that would last longer. I often eat yogurt with cherries, blueberries, and grapes, so I needed a tool that could handle frequent use. I used this pitter to pit a bunch of cherries. It was easy to use, and I liked the large cup. The recessed design helped with smaller cherries, and the splatter shield kept my clothes clean. I don't need to wear an apron anymore but I do anyway just in case. It felt sturdy and well-made compared to my old plastic pitter. It worked pretty well, but I did notice that it took a little pressure to get the pits out sometimes. Overall, I am happy with this pitter. It did what I needed and seems durable. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a reliable tool for cherries and olives, especially if they want something that lasts longer than cheaper plastic tools.

It Almost Always Works
Love the concept of this pitter. It works very well but you do need to keep an eye out and make sure the pit is popped out of the cherry because sometimes the pit does not always get pushed out.

Maybe I prefer pits?
I don’t know if it’s this particular pitter, or pitters in general, but I didn’t find this all that useful. It would be cool if they created a large format one for multiple cherries or olives at once, almost like a pitted vegetable/fruit version of the tomato and onion choppers. It didn’t feel like it saved me much time, and even though it was easy, it was annoying because the cherries really looked wonky after and the pits tended to have lots of fruit still attached. Size was fine, easy to store, and easy to clean.

Simple and effective
Simple and efficient product. Used it for a larger batch of cherries and now during the holidays for some green olives I accidentally bought with pits. Would recommend.

Works well, sturdy. Very happy!
It’s sturdy, easy to clean and helped us to put a lot of sour cherries with very little effort. Pleased with purchase and may buy another for next years harvest.
