Installed on panel, no more nuisance alarms
We used to get nuisance fire alarms with a certain frequency, always at ~2:30am, likely due to utility grid switching (voltage surges). That gets pretty old when you have little kids. I installed this surge protector on the smoke detector circuit on the panel and - so far - no further nuisance alarms. Directions were easy (if you know your way around a panel). Appears to work well.

Simple parallel connected surge protector
The company I work for uses this surge protector for all new installations. The information given in this particular states its good for 120/240/ But the model number is in fact good for only 120v circuits. The threaded nipple is indeed trade size 3/4” and will fit 3/4” trade size knock outs contrary to other reviews. They could easily have manufactured this with 1/2” instead but who knows why they decide not to. Most likely to reuse the same plastic mold for other devices. The instructions included are easy to follow with diagrams for those who are unsure. The green light on the side allows for quick inspection to see if protection is still available. Electrical leads are about 10” long. Included with this product: Instructions Lock ring to secure device to enclosure

This model (DTK-120HW) documentation states threaded nipple is 3/4" diameter--not true
I purchased two electrical panel boxes with 3/4" inch knockout holes on both sides to support this DTK-120HW as I read the documentation before purchasing three of them. After arrival, began to test whether the threaded nipple will fit through the knockout hole of panel box (see attached diagram for dimensions). The DTK-120HW's nipple was too wide (actually 1" diameter, not 3/4"). I gave the product 2 out of 5 stars due to bad documentation. At first I thought it was the panel box, but after measuring the hole in the panel box, which is exactly 3/4" inch diameter, the DTK-120HW was the problem. This is why it is important to test with one device or panel box before buying more to ensure everything is as correct as the documentation says it is. I will post at a later date after I resolve this problem and conduct further tests on this device, which has set me back by two days worth of troubleshooting. Not happy.
