Easy setup on SmartThings. Works great!
I bought this as an outdoor thermometer to trigger my outdoor z-wave switches for my heat tape (to prevent ice dams in winter). It’s one of the only temperature sensors I could find with an operating temp range down to near zero degrees Fahrenheit, which our outdoor temps temps can reach here in winter. It came up easily on the SmartThings “add-device”, but came up as a generic multi-sensor first. But Zooz gives you easy instructions to add and select a different “driver” for the device, which then has it only showing temperature, humidity, and battery. I did notice the battery, which read 100% at room temperature, read only 75% at freezer temp. I did not change any of the default parameters like how often the device wakes up to report, which the instructions state would lower the battery life. But for my application, it reports sufficiently fast. It appears that every time the temperature changes a certain number of degrees, it reports independently of the auto-wake function. So it’s not instantaneous, but the outdoor temperature does not change instantaneous. I put it in my freezer to test, and it took several minutes both for the device to cool to freezer temp, and to report the correct degrees. It reported multiple temps on the way down to 7.1 degrees. Likewise, when I took it back out to room temperature, it took several minutes. The readings were very accurate to other thermometers in the room. Overall, I’m extremely happy with its small size, ease of inclusion in SmartThings, and accuracy. We will see about battery life. It’s supposed to be placed outdoors under an eave, and not in direct sunlight or exposed to frequent water.

Better connectivity than zigbee sensors, less expensive that wi-fi sensors
I have Zigbee temperature/humidity sensors throughout the house; the one in the garage shop kept disconnecting from a SmartThings hub - even with a Zigbee repeater. I already have Z-Wave repeaters for Ring security so I got this sensor, works great. From SmartThings, I can see temperature and humidity from this (and other) sensors. Alexa shows temperature from this sensor, but won't show the humidity from any sensor. So I need SmartThings even if I don't use Z-wave. I'll need more time to assess battery life. So far, this sensor is working great.

Very ineffective
This was a waste of money. The device sampling rate is completely unpredictable and happens at random times and then it's off by 10-15 degrees. Maybe mine was a dud?

Does the job - simple setup
Zooz makes high quality products that integrate well with my Hubitat Z-Wave C8 Pro hub. The drivers available on the Hubitat make it easy to calibrate the sensor and it provides reliable readings. Placement is critical. We moved a large outdoor plant in an urn underneath the sensor and now the humidity is elevated! Will be relocating the sensor as a result.

quality product - easy to use and configure
Been using for a few days now. I was trying to control an AC based on some other temperature sensors i have but the zigbee ones i had didnt have an option for how often they would refresh. This has an update based on temperature change as well as a configurable time . ( at least in Hubitat) Much more satisfied with the control of my AC unit now. size is good and the bracket it comes with is easy to mount and dismount the sensor. Great product.

Worked for only 3 months
First the good, the sensor was good and accurate. Integrates with Home Assitant using ZWave Stick. Now the bad, First sensor did not work and would not pair with Zwave Stick at all. Got a replacement but still couldn't get it to pair with zwave stick. It finally paired after almost 50 attempts to pair and 20 resets. The default refresh interval is 12 hours which is too slow to track temperature for Smart Home. I adjusted the interval to update every hour, but it may have decreased the battery life. After about 3 months of use, stopped working completely. I have replaced battery but the sensor still doesnt work. It can no longer reset or be forced to wake up as well. I do not recommend this sensor.

Works well
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I put this outside on my patio, and it has been working well and reliably reporting the outside temperature and humidity. I’m using it with a Hubitat C-8, and I made some adjustments to how often it reports. So far, so good.

exactly what I needed
Great quality. Solid connectivity (800 LR!). Super easy to connect, great battery life, and a good value. I've bought several and I'll keep buying Zooz stuff. (Hubitat HE system)

J'ai installé ce capteur dans mon jardin, dans un boîtier électrique ouvert pour le mettre à l'abri des intempéries, sous un kumquat et il fonctionne parfaitement. Il se situe à 20 m environ du récepteur Eedomus.

Do not purchase. This sensor is software locked to only read between 0C - 32C. Useless in anything but a conditioned indoor space.

The Zooz ZSE44 XS SENSOR Temperature and Humidity Sensor has severe limitations that make it a poor choice. The readings are inconsistent, and the range is so limited that it struggles to monitor even small spaces effectively. Setup was easy, but the lack of reliability negates that advantage. Other customers should know that it often fails to connect properly and doesn’t deliver on its promises—honestly, with these issues, it shouldn’t even be sold. I’d recommend looking for a more dependable alternative.
