Questionable accuracy of Uric Acid readings?
This meter looks well made, is compact, and despite the seemingly complex set up procedure (as mentioned in other reviews), it is actually very easy to use and obtain quick readings, once you get used to it.However, I have docked two stars from my review because having used the unit for multiple readings now, I lack confidence in the reliability (accuracy) of the readings. My reasons for this are as follows:1) I used two identical machines taking back-to-back readings (1 immediately after the other), on each to compare. One machine produced readings that were consistently 10% higher than the other (example reading of 419 versus 459).2) I took two back-to-back readings after changing to a new batch of test strips (having re-calibrated the unit to the new strips). The new batch showed a reading 5% higher (362 versus 345).3) I took two back-to-back readings using test strips from the same batch. One reading was a substantial 17% higher than the other (426 versus 363). I repeated this test the following day and there was a 15% difference. So, in summary for me, as much as I love the concept of being able to check one’s own Uric Acid levels at home, I simply do not have confidence that the readings produced by this unit, are sufficiently accurate. The variations in readings seem too much for my liking. If it is the case that uric acid blood levels can vary by say 15% within the space of two minutes, then that would change the situation, as indeed the meter could be giving accurate results. But I can’t imagine that to be the case, can you?Edited 31 July 2025Since publishing my original review, the seller reached out to me showing genuine concern about my reservations that I expressed. Further advice was given to help ensure that I was using the meter correctly. It was also explained that their equipment does fall within the error margins specified to be CE compliant. In view of such a prompt and helpful response, I have revised this review from 3 stars to 5 stars.

Great for anyone on a keto diet
Quite chuffed with purchase. It's not perfect (see cons below) but it's really helped me understand how my body is responding to keto.I first used keto to 'reset' my body 12 years ago and thought another round would help me reach some fitness goals. I did it without a meter the first time but wanted to take away some of the guess work this go.The meter has been amazing. It's helped me confirm when I crossed into ketosis at the start, to spot why my progress had slowed a couple of weeks in (nuts are TOO good!) and to measure how long it takes to return to ketosis after cheat days.As for the 'cons'... The instructions are poorly written though the device is easy to use once you figure it out. The guide is mostly for diabetics but there's plenty of info online as to what the ketone and glucose readings mean for someone on keto.Another downside is they only give you 10 keto test strips so I had to buy another box of them.I'm still giving 5 stars despite the shortcomings as the meter itself is accurate and consistent. I don't use it so often now but the readings when I do are invaluable.

Easy to use when you know how!
The elephant in the room is getting error messages and nullifying results, hence wasting strips. The answer is to wait for the strip to register in the monitor ( just a few seconds and the monitor displays the strip number), then slide the strip into the bead of blood, and the strip absorbs the required amount of blood through the tip. I can check glucose, ketones and uric acid with just one bead of blood. Results are accurate. Products are well made and the strip prices are reasonable. I use mine every day and I am pleased to say, very satisfied with this kit.

Good, but there are better on the market
Works fine but keep buying extra markers

Excellent unit, but some confusion about using calibration formula
The unit is exceptionally easy to use. Don't bother with the long instruction manual, just watch the video how to use it. The unit is probably accurate without checking with the pre-calibrated formula. I tested it on me and my wife, and the readings seem sensible. Note that the instruction tells you to test it with the formula, but this formula cannot be purchased anywhere! I was very close to returning the unit for this reason, but I'm glad I didn't. All in all, very easy and quick to use. Versatile - can test uric acid, glucose and ketones. The lance is excellent. All works very well, almost like a professional piece of kit. Highly recommended.-----------------------------------Update after 3 months of use: The readings are about 20% inaccurate (too high) in comparison with the lab data and a more expensive UASure II unit which I bought from America. However, it is consistently 20% greater, hence it can be used if you know this. There is also about 8-10% scatter in the results - if you do a few measurements in a row. Also, some measurements are completely off, but this is only once in a while. So, given the price and availability, this can still be used if you understand the limitations.

I'm not convinced it's good for uric acid tests.
After using this machine over 3 months for uric acid tests, I've found it to be inconsistent. I would test myself 3 times first thing in the morning and it would produce 3 very different results. I would take the 2 results closest to each snd use them as a reference but even these don't come close to the official NHS tests I've taken.
