Good heavy duty Maglock
This piece of kit really is heavy duty and solid throughout. Its holding force of over 500kg enables peace of mind in your security set up. It has the flexibility to be activated with proximity readers, keypads, remote controlled systems or basic push button switches (not supplied). When the power supply is cut, the Maglock is in an unlocked state. It operates within 12 - 24Vdc. It also conforms to IP67 weatherproofing and has all the necessary guides and fixings for installation. Normally I would use my own fixings as a matter of course but these do not look that bad and if you source your own, when countersunk they need to be flush and not protruding at all. The only let down for me is the lack of guidance for installation and guidance over 12Vdc installation in general but a competent DIY should be able to install this with plenty of online guides and videos available. If unsure at all, always get in a competent tradesperson to do the job. Fitting/alignment is crucial with these so seek out how to get the best exact alignment for your installation.

These are not cheap and at this level (holding force) the price is reasonable as it is from a specialised security company.

Reliable Outdoor Security
Pros: High Holding Force: With a strong holding force of 545 kg, this maglock offers robust security, making it highly effective for preventing unauthorized access. Weatherproof (IP67 Rated): The IP67 rating ensures the maglock is protected against dust and can withstand temporary submersion in water, making it suitable for harsh outdoor environments. Fail Safe Operation: The fail-safe feature allows the lock to release when power is lost, enhancing safety by enabling quick exits during emergencies. Includes Z&L Fixing Bracket: The Z&L bracket simplifies installation, especially on doors and gates where alignment might be challenging, and provides additional support for a secure fit. Outdoor Durability: Designed for external use, this maglock can handle various weather conditions without compromising its functionality. Cons: Power Dependency: The fail-safe nature of the maglock means it relies on a constant power supply to remain locked. In case of a power outage, the lock will automatically release, which might pose a security risk. Installation Complexity: Installing a maglock with a Z&L bracket can be more complex compared to simpler locks, potentially requiring professional installation to ensure proper alignment and operation. Corrosion Risk: While weatherproof, long-term exposure to extreme conditions, such as saltwater or heavy industrial environments, could lead to wear or corrosion if maintenance is not regularly performed. Aesthetic Considerations: The size and design of the maglock and bracket may be visually intrusive, which might not be ideal for all settings or architectural styles. Cost: Maglocks, particularly those with high holding forces and weatherproof features, can be more expensive than traditional locking mechanisms, which might be a consideration for budget-conscious projects.

Not a complete kit
This magnetic lock from Amalocks is extremely powerful and would defy even the strongest person trying to open the door/gate simply by pulling. It is not a compete kit in that a power supply is required, 12 to 24 volts. This is connected by joining some of the wires coming from the unit together to join to the Positive negative of the power supply. Also needed is a switch that is either secure or PIN protected such as a keypad. All this is quite easily accomplished by a fairly proficient DIYer. The Maglock is supplied with a bracket for holding the unit in addition to a plate to fix to the door jamb etc. The power supply and a suitable switch can be purchased from Amazon quite cheaply. One point to bear in mind is that in the even of a power failure the lock will open. Power is needed to keep the lock locked. This, to my mind, means the unit would be unsuitable for securing important access points such as garage/tool shed as a simple blown fuse may make the security useless. Large organizations may well have secondary power back up but it is unlikely that the average householder would.

A heavy-duty maglock! Excellent!
This is a heavy, HEAVY duty maglock, its fantastic! I ordered it to upgrade the security of my gate, and it has blown me away. First and foremost, the holding force of this maglock is impressive. With a 545KG strong holding force, I feel confident that my gate is securely locked. The peace of mind knowing that it’s virtually tamper-proof is priceless. Installation was straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions and the included Z&L fixing bracket. The bracket made it easy to align everything properly, and I had the lock up and running in no time. The robust design of the bracket ensures that the maglock stays firmly in place, even with regular use. One of the standout features of this maglock is its weatherproof rating. Living in the UK with unpredictable but mostly lousy weather, the IP67 rating is crucial. This lock should stand up to heavy rain and high winds without any issues. The fail-safe feature is another big plus. In the event of a power outage, the lock disengages, ensuring that I can still access my gate without hassle. This is a critical feature for security and convenience, and it works flawlessly. The build quality is really impresssive. The materials feel durable and well-crafted, which is exactly what you need for an outdoor lock. It doesn’t just feel sturdy; it performs like it too. Overall, this maglock is an excellent choice for anyone looking to secure their gate or door. It combines strength, reliability, and ease of installation in one package. I’m thoroughly satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it to others. It’s a solid 5 out of 5 stars from me.
