18 month olds favorite book!
I bought this book at a farmers market at Arrowhead mall when I was pregnant with my first child. It came with a little monkey that fits on your finger. It was my first book I bought for her. I started reading it to her when she was a couple of months old. She is now 18 months old and she has me read it to her every night before bed! She points out ALL the animals. Her favorite animal is a monkey and she always makes a monkey noise lol. Love this book!

Beautiful illustrations and fun to read
I bought this book at a local craft fair. It's wonderful to read aloud to my 4 year old and has beautiful illustrations. Highly recommend!

I like it when the subtext becomes the text
It is clear to the reader immediately that this is a monkey is on a mission. And it's a nice read while we and Mrs J. C. McGoody come to understand what this not-so-bad-after-all monkey business is about. It starts out looking bad for the monkey, but his quick-thinking and take-charge attitude is acknowledged in the end.He even gets a nice cup of tea to top it off.If you like monkeys, buy this book. If you don't like monkeys, this book might make you change your mind. And there's a zoo's worth of otheranimals in this book so everyone can find a favorite. The text and illustrations carry each other perfectly in this story. It's great for a read-aloud or for just sitting alone having a quiet perusal of the pictures.I'll keep my eye on this monkey. I think he has a future in picture books.

Beautiful Illustrations, Fun Meaningful Story
I was delighted to discover this book at a local book fair, where I enjoyed seeing Michael Hale in person. The monkey in this story, with his eyebrows, has quite a bit of personality. I loved the beautiful, detailed, illustrated artwork. It is a fun read that pulls you into multiple-animal-invasion chaos. But there is deep meaning behind all of the hullabaloo, which is unveiled toward the end of the book.

Bad monkey, really? Maybe it just seems that way...
This is a delightful rhyming tale of a very bad monkey...who has a plan. We get to meet all of his wild friends as they enter the story either one by one or all at once. The illustrations are wonderful as the story crescendos to that ah-ha moment. Kids and parents alike will enjoy the mystery of what this monkey is up to. It is obvious that Michael, both the author and illustrator, has a keen fondness for monkeys and other exotic animals. The expressions on their faces are killer (I especially like the boa) and the tale has a heartwarming conclusion.
