It's an emergency backup, folks!
People, it's twenty bucks for an emergency radio, light, charger, etc. Does it sound like my thousand dollar stereo? Does it light up a 50 yard stretch of road under construction? Will three twirls of the handle charge up your laptop computer? NO, so get over it, geez! It's a pocket radio that can charge on your USB charger (cell phone wall wort or whatnot), or charge with it's itty bitty solar cell. The flashlight is bright enough to jacklight the raccoon that's tearing up the trash, and I suppose you could put a couple percents on your phone if you really need to, but this is not a 40 foot RV . . . it's basic, possibly lifesaving, emergency backup and shouldn't be thought of as anything else. And, by the way, it does that pretty well.

Didn't expect much but solid emergency radio
So bought one like this before and it was obviously a piece of crap novelty toy that wouldn't hold a charge and charged sloooow as all hell on the crank. I expected similar from this and since the other would be dead after a day or so on a full charge I expected this to do the same. Got this one and I let it drain till it was dead with the flashlight then tested the crank from dead and after a few cranks you could already hear the radio. The other one I bought was so bad I didn't expect this at all, you would have to crank a ton and barely got like a min of radio. This one there is minimal cranking to make it an effective radio. As for battery retention, I just pulled it out of my bugout bag after sitting in the closet for a 15 months (without light so didn't charge through the solar panel). I thought no doubtedly it will be dead but shockingly the light and radio still worked fine and the low battery indicator wasn't even lit. Not only that but it still would charge my phone with the supplied cables plus a separate lightning cable at 5 Volts .3 Amps which isn't very fast but it'll get your phone back on in an emergency. The only thing I'm not a fan of is that the radio charges through a mini USB cable instead of a micro USB cable, and mini USB cables just aren't commonly found nowadays. Other than that solid radio, great emergency or camp light. Great for the glove box.

MUST HAVE FOR AN EMERGENCY
I chose this unit (IS-088+) over the IS-088 (also by iRonsnow) primarily because this unit has two features: 1) a higher mAH (1000 vs 300) internal NiMH and 2) higher lumens for the LED. Either unit however seems that it would be good to have.Frankly, one would buy these for emergency purposes, and since nothing these days is foolproof, I think I will also purchase some solar panels that will charge the types of emergency situations I might need, and also step up to the iRonsnow I90 which holds a AAA battery for a 2nd backup unit. This has a very bright LED light. Some people have complained that it's not a spot light - bright evenly throughout the entire spot of light. That's true, but I prefer how this shines - with a central very bright spot surrounded by a less bright wider circle. This would be very helpful in the situation I'd most likely find myself in -- a forest at night. The radio signal is SO clear. This unit is VERY compact. I didn't pay that much attention to the size when purchasing - but its very small size is perfect for emergency situations. I would buy again.

Emergency Radio Flashlight
Product is pretty small. Seems well built though. Does not feel cheap nor does it rattle I have not yet had a chance to try this out under any emergency stress situations or away from home but so far seems to work well. Does everything its reported to do...I bought this mostly for camping and back up so I will leave it stashed until we need it....Actually I like the fact that its small as it makes it easier to stash and store...Also using it as an emergency flashlight with the small size actually will make it easier to hold and use as a flash light....I like the fact that there are many ways to charge it Solar; hand crank USB etc...and also that its multi purpose, I get ideas just looking at it... ...I am pretty satisfied with the purchase and think it was a good buy for the price I paid and for how I plan to use it....

Excellent product at a super price!
I had a cheap hand crank radio from way back that quit working. I was thrilled to find this one at such a great price! I love being able to solar charge as well as crank or plug into the computer. I suppose you could plug into the wall as well. The weather station is very handy as is the flashlight. And being able to charge my cell phone with it is fantastic in an emergency situation. It's cute and compact for such a powerful little device. We bought one for ourselves and one for my 96 year old mother in law who still lives alone.

Highly recommend, worth the money, thoughtfully designed
This is an awesome product and thoughtfully made. Package comes exactly as described. In fact, I wasn't expecting it to come with the two sets of cords (USB charger and an aux cord). It was smaller than expected, slightly smaller than my Samsung S5. It makes it easier to stow away, so no complaints there.-- Radio: After cranking it for 100 seconds, it has played 3 songs and an entire commercial set on the radio. As I am writing this, the little radio is still playing. The sound is crystal clear. The tuner is sensitive enough to locate a station. The dials are cleverly set in to the case so that you don't turn them by accident. The antenna is adjustable.-- Light: VERY bright. Description says 50 Lumens. The light is bright enough that it's painful to shine in my eyes. However, the light refraction is meant for long distances, which will be more useful for hiking through the dark than for up-close applications (like starting a fire). The light cone looks like a bullseye, darkness, and one ring of light around it.-- Battery life: Excellent. 100s of cranking powered over 7 minutes of radio. Also, when the device is charging, a red light comes on indicating that the battery is receiving a charge. The ambient light from my bedroom is enough to charge the solar panel.Overview: This is worth the money, and then some. The case is solid, durable, and compact enough that it can be carried virtually anywhere. Battery life is excellent, radio is crystal clear, and the light is decent enough that I would use this hiking, camping, or in an emergency bag. I highly recommend.

Way Better than Other Reviews Led me to Believe
So I read all the reviews and was a little hesitant to purchase this item. However, at the low price, I thought I would give it a go.This item is excellent. Performs exactly as described on the box. It is easy enough to use, my 4-year old can operate it. Between the crank handle and the solar, it will never run out of juice. The radio signal is what you would expect (well, those people who were around in the '90s) it's a non-digital portable radio sound. Using the surprisingly long aerial, I can pick up most radio signals available where I live.Considering this radio was bought with the purpose of it being stored with my emergency gear, I might buy another and use one in my shed!

Reviews were good, ordered and shipped to Australia
I was looking for a great all rounder device for my wife's car. The reviews were great and am one happy buyer! At first I thought the unit would be flimsy, but it's quite the opposite. The unit is very sturdy and feels like it's built to last. No rattling parts but a very solid build and the plastic and rubber feel good. Charged it up, tested all parts and placed in her boot. Highly Recommended.

Solidly Built
A bit smaller than expected, but over all it seems to be well made and works fine.Only takes a few mins of cranking to fully charge.Just the thing you need stashed in the cupboard for that emergency. Also has a torch & can be used to charge other electronics, phone etc.Would have no problem recommending it to others.

Better than expected.
Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect quality wise, but for the price decided to roll the dice.It feels good and sturdy in the hand, charges all the available ways, the torch is good and bright. The radio and speaker particularly surprised me! It's hardly spectacular, you need to do the old signal waltz and find a good place to put it, but when it's got a station it comes in loud and clear. It's certainly better than any pocket radio I've had in the past.

"Resting" battery life lasts for months without recharging/winding up.
Bought it several months ago. We turn it on now and then but not for long though. We haven't really used it outdoors so not sure how long will the battery last under continuous use. But I can confirm that we haven't re-charged/wind it up even once since we bought it and everything still works including radio and led light.
