Fantastic WIFI 6 Router
Install was easy, and we cannot believe the speeds we are seeing for upload and download speeds. No slow zones in our house, no lagging, and no reduced picture quality anymore when it was peak hours. I was able to go from wired online gaming to wireless and hardly saw any drop in speeds with the 5G WiFi. Very impressed.

Good value
Problems setting this up.....until I followed instructions. Works well with good coverage. Although a renewed item, it look new.

No new security updates. Do not recommend.
Router will not update. I am stuck on Firmware Version V1.1.3.18_2.1.14 . The Nighthawk mobile app, after prompting me to update, gives me an "update error", the GUI installer when I select the firmware that I have downloaded from Netgear throws "This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product. ", and when i use their Firmware Update Assistant, the error is simply "Firmware is invalid ". I will never be purchasing another Netgear device.

Great router for the price!
This thing is a beast!!! I'm averaging 350 MB where I was only getting 75. No wires changed or anything. For the price that's a easy cheap improvement!! Just plug into the old router cables and change my devices over and it was good to go!!

Good product but unstable 5Ghz connection
It was replacing my netgear mesh system that got fried due to PowerSurge. It has excellent strength and coverage. Setup was just like any netgear router. I was not able to update the firmware right off the app/router. I was however able to manually upgrade the firmware to the latest version by downloading the file from their website. I have a gigabit ethernet, personal cloud and media systems, a NAS, ring cameras, security system and a couple of IOT devices and sensors. Understandably the wired connection gives the maximum speeds and stability. The 2.4Ghz is stable and gives excellent throughput. I have always recommended Netgear hardware but on the latest devices especially X3000+ models I am seeing issues on the 5Ghz channels. They are highly unreliable and keep dropping the connection. Few times it is connected but shows no internet (the wired and 2.4Ghz would be functioning normal). I tried all the options and combinations to no avail. It's frustrating when connection drops and when it comes back after 1 or 2mins, I will have to reauthenticate my work laptop which is annoying when working on something important. I am eyeing the TP link mesh network they have been improving their hardware and software offerings and good options out there.

Works great for our small house
Works great.. easy to set up.. no hassles.. I live in a small house and the set up is in the basement so it covers the 850 Sq ft house easily...we have had no buffering or signal loss

Modem
I love NETGEAR...But this particular modem is too big. I really wish they would have made it smaller.

Best wifi router for the money
Netgear has a well-earned reputation for reliability and quality. I’ve been using their wired & wifi routers for about 20 years, so when it came time to upgrade my old Netgear Nighthawk to take advantage of the newer internet connectivity standards, this Nighthawk was a no-brainer for my home. It’s ideal for a two adult household with smart tv’s, devices & computers, though if your household is more than a couple “empty nesters”, or has more than 2500 sq ft, I would recommend going with one of the Netgear Orbi mesh router systems (mesh systems “mesh” the 5 & 2.4 speeds to deliver the same speed to all devices). They’re a little more pricey, but they’re scalable to your family needs & you’ll get better coverage in the far corners of your home. I work from home so I need a connection that is super fast & ultra reliable. I get that with the Nighthawk and I find the value for the performance is outstanding.
