Very sharp right out of the box.

Best knife set I have ever purchased. Slices through meat like butter and that paring knife makes peeling no work at all.

I really like these blades. Only down side is the tangs (I think that's the right word) or rivets that hold the handle to the tang stick up ever so slightly above the surface of the handle which is just annoying that otherwise great knives are not totally smooth on the handles (rivets totally flush/level with the wooden handle). Otherwise great knives. I enjoy the pairing knives the best. Bought some for family as well, for gifts, they enjoy them also.4 stars only because of the tang/rivets issue (minor).

MOSFIATA makes a very nice 8" Chefs Knife. The craftsmanship is high quality and beautiful. The knife is very sharp and functional. It is a fantastic addition to my kitchen.

The media could not be loaded. First of all these knives are made out of a high carbon stainless German steel, so as long as you are not abusing them they have the potential to last a lifetime.As I look through the reviews I notice comments like "these knives started to become dull after a while" by reviewers who gave this product less than 5 stars. That isn't fair to the manufacturer, and I will explain why:These knives come sharp; the blades you get in this set will easily pass any kind of test you put them through straight out of the box.Some folks may not be aware of this, but you are going to have to occasionally sharpen your knives. I know, I know...it would be cooler if knives operated like lightsabers in Star Wars. It would be awesome if they never had to be sharpened, or cleaned, etc. Unfortunately that's just not the reality we live in.My advice is that you clean your knives after every use with warm soapy water. Make sure you rinse, and dry.Also spend about 2 minutes of your life sharpening your hardest used knives once a week. You can literally do it while you are watching TV. You can sharpen every knife in this set during a single commercial break... So there is no reason to complain about the knives getting dull with use. Pass each knife up & down a dual ceramic rod system, for about 30 seconds (hitting both sides equally), and you'll be back in business.You can sharpen these knives quite easily whether you are using whetstones, SpyderCo sharpeners, or Lansky diamond/ceramic rods systems that come in the little wooden rectangular storage boxes. Good sharp basic knives, case is not really useful for everyday use, but is nice packaging when buying.Each knife comes with a plastic sleeve which could be nicer if it were something to actually protect the knife. It is strange they devoted money towards a brief case for the knives that could have been better spent on actual sheaths.I cannot comment on how the edge keeps but the knives arrived sharp.
