Works great
My previous Mountain Bike was heavy with full suspension that was too stiff. I got this expensive light Mountain Bike with only front suspension (and dual disc brakes). This is a shock absorbing gel seat with a gel cover over a spring which is over the Satori Animaris Suspension Seatpost. I gave it a 3 star absorbency as I felt the spring was too stiff for everyday riding. Maybe the spring is ideal for actual mountain biking. After $3 for a lighter spring at my local hardware store, this seatpost absorbs most of the shock. I went from 4 blocks before it was too uncomfortable in the original configuration, to 5 to 10 miles comfortably with this configuration. As other reviewers stated, that there is a slight squeak when it is in motion. The squeak is slight, but I like it because it lets me know that the seatpost is doing it's job. I lubed it with dry graphite which reduced the squeak, even though it wasn't necessary. When I put full bodyweight of the seat, I see the seatpost does the most of the compression. It also doesn't rebound as much of the spring I installed. All in all, this bike rides like a luxury car, thanks in most to this shock absorbing seatpost.

Nice Seatpost Suspension
I really like this seatpost. I installed it as it was when shipped and it suits me pretty good. It is a little firmer than I like, but I'll wait a while before I adjust the tension. The SATORI is a long way from what you might expect from a full-suspension, but it does tame those harsh bumps and make mild bumps out of them. The seatpost shock I had on my old bike had a tendency to move side-to-side as I pedaled, the SATORI does not have any side-to-side movement that I can detect. Installation is simple and straightforward. Some others have commented that no instructions were included; that is true, but as simple as it is, I'm a little puzzled why anyone would need instructions for it.

YOUR BUM WON'T BE BUMMED!
FINAL UPDATE 10/27/23- The creaking has gone away for the most part and has not returned in a few riding seasons. I still do not know precisely where the creaking was coming from. The pivot still works it's way out as described below, but I simply bang it back in a few times per riding season and it's been fine. Someday I will remember to locktite it in. I will uprate my Amazon rating to 4 stars as it's been a good suspension seatpost long than it was bad, if that makes any sense?UPDATE 8/2019- I've ridden about 500 miles on this Satori Animaris Suspension seatpost, and it has been "creaking" like crazy. It was so loud and annoying, I tried to disassemble it to find out just where it was coming from. I lubed and tightened everything. No change. Also, one of the suspension axle pivots was working its way out, so I had to tap it back in with a hammer and punch. Even with removing the adjustable suspension spring and adjusting it every which way, it continues to creak loudly sometimes when I ride. (the creaking comes and goes). Here's what I think is causing it so far.... I cannot pinpoint where the creaking is coming from, but my guess is either the lower axle pivot or from the seatpost itself right where the suspension is attached to the post. It is NOT coming from the seat tube on the bike or its hold-down clamp. It is definitely coming from the Satori. It "may" be temperature related as it does it at first, but then quiets down after some miles. It's driving me crazy, thus, I'm lowering my rating to 3 stars.ORIGINAL REVIEW;I have this Satori on a 2018 Juiced' Bikes Ripcurrent S electric fat bike. I mostly ride on a beautifully paved bike path and I'm about 250lbs. The bike is a tad over 70lbs. This Satori Animaris works great right out of the box. I haven't done any adjusting and it's awesome.

Shock Absorber for the bike
It works . It won't turn your ride into a Cadillac smooth experience but it will help. It is a quality forged piece of vital equipment and the softness is adjustable to some extent. I would buy again especially at this price. It is much cheaper than similar shock absorber posts. Glad i bought it.

Softens the blows!
I love this seat post. I have a very heavy ebike (juiced ripcurrent S) and this seat post replace my stock and took the edge off the hard tail. I had a front suspension but the higher speeds of the ebike make this post a necessity. You don’t need to spend more. This one is perfect. No squeaks and it softens the ride as intended.
