Perfect for a 7-year old
My sister's child loves Legos. So much. The kid will sit and build entire worlds from scratch for hours on end. So when I say this set is worth it, I am not messing around. It took the kid less than an hour to put together (they are at Master Builder level skills, so kids less familiar with building Legos may take longer), but the more important part is that it is still put together over two weeks later. Normally the kid tears things apart and Frankensteins them together into new creations, but this set is so fun they have kept it together and actually played with it. Highly recommended for anyone whose kid demands princess Legos but who doesn't have $100+ to spend on a set. Cheap, simple, and fun to play with. It's the best $25 I've spent on Legos in a long time.

I turned the pages on the excellent instruction book
My 4 1/2 year old granddaughter was able to completely assemble this toy. I turned the pages on the excellent instruction book, but ended up not touching the Legos other than helping find a couple. I did have to help a bit to keep her focused on finishing the first assembly before modifying the build to tell her own story about Ariel and friends. It took well over an hour to complete the assembly. These are small Legos, Post build, I used a large zip-loc bag to keep all the parts together. Losing parts would seem to be a risk because many of them are unusual or exclusive to this kit.According to my granddaughter, this kit accurately reproduces many of the locations and key plot elements of the movie. It also obviously inspired her to start generating her own extensions to the story, building and acting them out.For someone who likes the Disney Mermaid story, and how also likes to build and use his or her imagination, this is a superior kit.

Very cute and detailed
We got this lego set for our 4 year old niece and put it together with her while she stayed with us for a week. The set is incredible. It has so much detail, from a small potion bottle and tentacles in Ursula's "den," to a chest of treasures, a sliding "glass door," a vanity area, and a broken helm in Ariel's portion if the set. Putting the whole thing together was beyond the patience and fine motor control of a 4-year old, but it kept her busy for long periods of time daily. She especially liked switching Ursula's and Ariel's body parts with each other.Note: this is the most impressive-looking adaptation of Ursula you'll ever see.

but fun to look at
It took me an hour and a half to put this together - while my 4 year old granddaughter's brother was sleeping. It took me less time to put it togehter when it broke apart again. However she loves it and plays with it everyday. I found a small box that suits thees parts so she can move it around in the box.Too many small decorations for my tastes.....but fun to look at.

Fun set and my daughter loves it
Fun set and my daughter loves it, however two of the same small pieces were missing. I thought maybe we lost or couldn’t find the first, until the same small piece was needed later in the building process and I realized they were not included. First time I’ve experienced this issue with Legos.

Fun Lego set
My daughter likes The little Mermaid and so this seemed like a good gift for her birthday. It is easy to put together, but I grew up on Lego's so that might not be the case for some. The only complaint I have is the hair piece on both characters comes off very easy. I am tempted to superglue the hair on both so they stay on. Any time I, or my daughter goes to change the characters parts out, the hair come off. Or even just playing with the things.I think we got it for a pretty good price, since most of the other sets (with half the number of pieces) were double or so the cost.

This is recommended for ages 5-12 on the box
NOTE: This is recommended for ages 5-12 on the box, but anyone under 7 probably needs help putting it together because it has the most tiny pieces I have ever seen in a lego set. My 5-year-old needed her older brothers to handle a lot of it.But a quality and fun design to play with so I still give it the full 5 stars.
