Living up to the legecy
A bood movie. I like the new animation the story is good. Got to say these are not my faverite characters, probobly as I am a bigger fan of their fathers.I this move has Superman/Clark, Jon and Damian are the main characters, Batman has a more back of role. As cold as Batman is Damian just has not filter to his mouth whatsoever.Damian has been doing this a long time but Jon has just started to get his powers as well as finding out who his father really is. First day on the job and the fate of the universe is already at stake. Will the super sons rise or set?

When Jonathan met Damian
A new DC comics animated movie. This features the Super Sons. Jonathan Kent. Son of Superman. And Damian Wayne. Son of Batman. Characters who have featured in comics for a few years now. And actually did decades back also. Worth a google. This runs seventy six mins [approx]. It is a twelve certificate film, thanks to some violence and some language, so not suitable for the younger audience. You might they would have aimed for a lower certificate in a film about kids, but there we are.We start with the origin of Superman. But do look closely at this. Then flash forward and his son Jonathan is eleven. And tired of his father not being around all the time. Finding the truth leads him into the superhero world. And a meeting with Damian. Batman's trained assassin son. Who doesn't play well with others. But when a terrifying menace strikes, the two will have to get along. As they are the world's only hope. There's something eye catching about the animation in here from the off. It looks like £d [no need for special glasses though] with a touch of rotoscoping also [also worth a google]. Some interesting use of colour also results in eye catching visuals.I have never been the biggest fan of these two characters on the printed page - that's another debate - but here they work. It works by focusing on Jonathan at first, giving him very typical struggles. Then his initial meeting with the heroes and Damian goes by nicely. After that when the menace hits there is real jeopardy here and it's a bit scary at times. The characters do interact really well, with nice parallels to their fathers. And it's really watchable and entertaining after that. The voice cast are great also. They all fit their roles perfectly. I'd only actually heard of one of them before also. So they clearly deserve to be better known actors.Added to which, there's an appearance from one particular Bat character who has never been seen beyond the printed page before. It's so delightful to see them. And one line that only those who know their dc continuity will get. But it made me laugh.Only slight problem with this: it's not long enough. It just flies by, and feels like it is over far too soon. But that's a minor criticism, because it was a very entertaining watch while it lasted. The dvd goes straight into the main menu when loaded with no ads or trailers. There are no extras.Languages and subtitle options:Languages: English. French.Subtitles: English. Dutch. French.
