Raspberry Pi Based Retropie System Retro Games Console

Pros: Great starter kit, super fast downloads wirelessly, kodi runs great with the better Wi-Fi connection from the b+, everything is already assembled and programmed so basically ready to go. Just have to map your controllers.Cons: so far I'm not really happy with the snes controllers. Really cheap feeling and the d-pad controls are trash. Turn left and it goes up, turn right and it goes up. Makes playing the old roms unplayable.+3 stars for a great kit already put together and a decent wireless keyboard-2 stars for cheap game controllers that I have to spend more money to replace

People have been using raspberry pis for retro gaming for years now, so this isn't really new or innovative. But it does exactly what it claims in a small and efficient form factor and emulates nearly every console known to man if the relevant ROMs/ISOs are loaded onto the microSD card.Pros:Its completely plug and play and setup is a breeze with the wall wart plugging into one of two micro USB slots, the USB-C to HDMI adapter, and four USB ports for controllers/keyboard/mice or any other standard accessory you may needThe included SNES style USB controller is comfortable and functional and responsive. Though at some point I'd suggest upgrading to an xbox style controller if you're going to be playing anything more recent than SNES games due to gamepad layout/button configuration.I haven't gone though the entire library yet, but haven't come across any incompatible or glitchy games so far. I'm not certain if the system has enough capability to play anything more modern than PS2/XBox era games at any rate.Audio/visuals are clean and crisp for what they are. Try to remember that you're not going to get an 8- or 16-but game to upscale to full HDCons:The cooling fan that came installed in mine is absolute garbage and is loud enough to hear in other rooms of the house. It definitely needs to be replaced with something quieter.Controller cables are a good length for what they are (~6 feet long). This is still not quite long enough for me to comfortably play from my couch. You may need to consider either finding USB extensions of going to wireless controllersNot sure where the problem lies, but I haven't been able to get the included wireless keyboard to work at all. Not certain if its the USB dongle or the keyboard itself. It powers up just fine, but won't connect to the console.I would definitely recommend this or a similar unit for anyone interested in retro gaming, as it definitely beats having to park a PC next to the TV to accomplish the same thing.

But the ui is pretty easy to use.Once this arrived, I plugged in the included NES-style controllers and wireless keyboard dongle and then attached the PI to my monitor via the included HDMI cable. In my case, the seller even replaced a piece of hardware that was thrown in for free and I couldn't be happier. After letting the included scraper run over night, I had thousands of video games on multiple emulators ready to go. I'd happily buy from this seller again.12/39/2019: NEW Review addendumI',m stii getting a lot of use frol tnis Raspberry PI (Running Emuationstation & retropi). However, my unit at least has a hardware flaw. The small usb power connector on the Pi has become so loose that *if* I'm able to get it to turn on , any tupe pf shake or bump will cause it to shut off. That should haver happen to a product that I've taken very good carer of and only had for a little over a year. I'm going to have to probably resort to using duct tape (becaue duct tape fixes everything) to hold the cord securely inside the usb power socket until I'm able to solder in a replacement.

Plays almost every game I played growing up. I don't recommend messing with PSX roms because you can't control it correctly. Mine came with 3 systems having games installed already, the other roms I downloaded. The red one with a fan on top sold on here comes with tons more games than the black one does, why, I don't know. The emulators show up in the menu as you add roms for them. Atari 800 and 5200 roms will not run, so be advised! Overall I love it and haven't stopped playing since I got it.

I love this item. The only thing I wish is that I had asked the seller before I made the purchase if it was a 2gb or the 4gb system (when I purchased it, the description didn't specify). I just wanted the 4gb system to see if speeding up the CPU and the GPU would help some of the games and systems run faster. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and the ability to play most of the games from my childhood. Great seller, and good communication.

I hooked it up and turned it on and everything worked perfectly. From what I've seen so far, the N64 games aren't really playable, but if you're looking for SNES/NES/Genesis and the other consoles of that era or earlier, this is perfect. My buddy ordered one and his works great too. The controllers also work well and feel nice.

I love this little retro gaming mini pc. All my favorite games from past times, and so much more.I cannot wait to play with Python programming, I am somewhat of a hobbyist. :)

A person looking for various formats of retro video gaming will definitely not be disappointed! Huge amount of value packed in this little box! May need to buy other controllers but I am still very satisfied with what this box offers!
