I was looking for alternative to 3M water filter the price has doubled in over a year. I found a company called American water filter company that was stating it was making replacement water filters for my 3m at a much lower price…I read the reviews and a saw a few customers where happy.. so I i ordered just one, it arrived in 4 days it was not boxed as well as the 3m, just wrapped in plastic and then put into a box so unwrapped and compared and visually looked good so I installed it no problem and no leaks everything was fine proceeded to flush it and noticed the pressure was much lower than the dirty filter. I replaced, so I gave it some time and noticed the pressure was decreasing rapidly I have a gauge at water inlet to the house and one was installed after the filter. The pressure before the filter was measuring 85 psi and 67 psi after the filter psi a major decreased. I bypassed the filter measure the water pressure was the exact same before I go to the filter set a filter is it a clogged or a blockage . So I contacted the company and five days later still haven’t received an answer. I cannot recommend this filter to anyone knowing the experience that’s occurring to me and what’s other people have experienced so now I ordered the 3m brand filter and it arrived immediately installed it and flushed all was good pressure 85 in 83 out . It’s not14 days and wrote 3 timesStill waiting for a response,,, I’m going to pay the pay the extra money, but still looking for aAlternative filter…….

The name brand aqua pure water filter performs better my water pressure seems to be a little less. My next purchase will be the aqua pure brand.

I have used the 3m 904 filter for 12 years. In all of those years I never had a water pressure issue when installing a new filter till now. With the over doubling in price I chose to but this cheaper replacement and so far I’m not impressed. I put off replacing last filter because I didn’t want to spend $30 a month for the original 3m but after replacing my water pressure/ flow has been greatly reduced. You can feel it in the shower but really see it while watering the lawn which reaches 5 foot less than the old filter. So I’m not impressed and will probably have to find a new system or bypass since clearly this won’t last a year.Update: 10/23Water flow reduced even more and now it’s leaking. Glad I bought the 3M filter on sale a couple weeks ago. Now water flow is good again. Never had issue with an 3M filter and they all lasted a year or month longer. Don’t waste your money on a cheap copy.

I have not had trouble in the past but this last unit lasted less than a week before we started having problems with it. We thought that it was a problem with the well or bladder however after a very expensive visit with the plumber, we found that this happens frequently with this product. The filter recommended for our filtration system is 3M. Lesson learned.

Well, like with everyon else, the 3M filters got really expensive. I would usually leave a 3M filter on for about 10-11 months before replacing. Never had any leaks or loss of water pressure.I bought two of the AFC Brand (@$150/each), and I did not notice a reduction in pressure. However, the first one started leaking after about 8 months. So I grabbed the other one and put it on. Worked fine. However, only 3 months later, this one also started leaking quite a bit.Now THESE AFC Filters have also gone up in price. If they cost half as much, but I could get 6-8months out of them, then it wouldn't be such a bad deal. But when they last only 3 months? No thanks especially when they are now over $200 each.I gave two stars because at least the first one lasted a little while before leaking.

The filter is a whole house system sold by 3M. It is supposed to last 1 year under normal use. The filter I bought this time is a replacement filter made by American Filter Company for this system. The Model number is #AFC-APWH-SDCS. The water has already slowed to a trickle. The 3M filters will go for almost a year before this happens. This filter is junk.

I had trouble finding AP917HD filters, and this was available. It has not worked as well as 3M filters, and i actually just bought a 3M filter because I can't stand the taste any longer. Would not recommend.

After about a month and a half my water pressure dropped to a weak dribble. I called the city because I thought it was a broken main. Nope, just a defective filter. Went back to 3M and pressure and taste was great again.
