ZE-268S5 4 Speed Pull Chain Switch

I tried to repair our broken fan pull switch. As another reviewer related, I was able to get the switch apart and add chain but I could not get it put back together. So frustrating. So I ordered this switch for our four speed fan. It looks exactly like the one that came with the Hunter fan. If you decide to do this repair yourself, note that the black load wire (L) has less slack than the other wires. This is a problem if you cut the wires. Also, each wire is soldered a little at the end that sticks into the switch. They are hard to pull out but try to pull them out so you have their full length and the soldered ends. Make sure to take a photo of the order of the colored wires or write down which colors go in which holes. They are labeled L, 1,2,3,4. It is easier to push the soldered parts of each wire into the switch holes than newly stripped and twisted wires. Turn off the circuit breaker before you start and back on to test to s if it works before you put the cap back on the fan. I got it working the first time.

Have 3 Hunter ceiling fans with a "serenity" speed (extra slow). We like the serenity speed. It is just enough to keep the air moving without blowing. We had the chain come out of one and could not find a 4 speed switch. Hunter would only sell us the whole inside electrical stuff, which in 2015 was about $36 plus tax and S & H. I luckily was able to fix it myself. Later we had one wear out on the inside and were able to find this one. it works perfectly. I am knocking off 1 star because it cost me over $12. Worth it if you need it though. I have since found some very cheap (3.67 each) and bought 2 for less than the price of this one. I now have back ups for when they wear out. At least now you can find them.

Oem part, worked as described

Installed the new switch this week. Make sure you note the wire locations on the old switch before installing the new switch; put the wires in the same orientation matching the color of the wire with the number on the new switch. Works like new! Very satisfied.

This was a perfect replacement for my 4-speed Hunter fan. I had previously replaced the original 4 speed switch with a 3 speed because it was all I could find. I’m so happy to once again have all the speeds available in a predictable pattern!

Didn't like the lack of instructions but it turns out it is easy. YOu just need to push a small screwdriver into the hole where the wire is then pull out the wire then just push the wire into the same hole on the new switch.
