Best value for the price
In my opinion this is the best value 3D scanner currently on the market. Originally, this was the DAVID SLS-2 but was purchased by HP and rebranded. The original price for this scanner was $3,300 so at $1000, this is a steal. It can capture very fine detail and is relatively fast once you get the hang of the work flow. The disadvantage of this scanner is that the calibration process can be somewhat tedious. Also, each individual scan has to be aligned one by one, but this is straight forward once you are familiar with the software. Handheld 3D scanners that produce comparable scan quality cost several thousand dollars. The doll head pictured in my review took about 30 minutes to scan and align.
