I bought this as a gift for Yule for my partner. He hasn’t seen it yet so I will update after his response and use. This package is exactly as shown in the photos and everything was of excellent quality and I appreciate the non scented formulas for the beard oil and balm because I am epileptic and extremely sensitive to all scents so my partner is unable to wear things that are scented with most fragrances. I can see how some of the packages arrived with oil leaked as they are wrapped up very well, sealed with plastic but they are laying on the side and the rubber tops will break down with constant exposure to any liquids plus heat and cold and an oil would eventually seep out. That being said they are wrapped up with said plastic and another layer of bubble wrap and so mine arrived with only oil on the inside of the bubble wrapping and on the bottle and I just kind of wiped it off and rubbed it into the rest of the label so it was all the same coloring and I have the packaging sitting up on its side now. Hopefully it will dry up or not be obvious when he unwraps it. The brush is soft but firm so it will probably go through most but the very coarsest of beards. The shears appear nice enough but I’m a hairstylist so I have better. The comb is beautiful and matches the brush. All in all I am very pleased with the purchase and the only thing that I would change is the way they package the beard oil.

Items come packaged in a nice magnetic-flap box thats a keeper and a separate drawstring burlap styled sack for travel. -5" Wooden comb: Is saw-cut and sanded down nicely with a wide 1/16" teeth spacing (so it will glide through beard easily and spread balm/oil nicely down to the skin) -4.5" Boar-Styled brush has ridged bristles (a few will shed as expected with new use, but will slow after striking against palm a couple of times) -2.12 oz Balm: Is a thicker beeswax based style balm to train and condition hair (this isn't the melting oily type) No Fragrance -1.7oz Oil: is pretty good, has glass dropper in comes in an amber bottle to keep better shelf life. No Fragrance -7" Scissors / 2.5" blades: Solid & Heavy - Fairly sharp and has an adjustable screw / instead of a hammered rivot, Great to keep alignment and prevent loose bladed - Surprised that they actually breeze through cutting hair without issue and have a rubber fatigue bumper that absorbs the shock of the cut (probably will last a long time IF you ONLY cut hair with the scissors) Overall Thoughts: this is probably the best intro kit you'll find at the 34$ price point with 7 Quality items -Strong points: Scissors, Beard Oil & Nice Magnetic Box -Weak points: No Fragrance & slight boar brush shedding -Mediocre: Wax/Balm, Sack.... and Wooden comb

Have only used the scissors really, but I believe this kit has simple ingredients and enough tools to not disappoint for that beard of yours, or his, or her's for that matter. I was just thinking about that bearded lady from Year One with Michael Cera and Jack Black. Michael Cera likely will never grow a beard in his life, but he can rub nice oil on our hairy bodies for us! Beard balm and oils rock! I usually just use an oil that I make myself with jojoba, peppermint essential oil, dang I forget all that I have in it, but it's the same stuff you'd find in a quality natural beard oil. Idk how to make balms really, but I would if I could, maybe someday. When I'm feeling extra frisky I put both the oil and balm on, one after the other. I use a dropper to get the oil down on my skin and then i half the knickle sized amount of balm onto my 'balm', distribute it over my finger tips, and go in mainly around my mouth and chin, then i return for more balm on my 'balm' and reapeat the process (with all 10 fingers mind you). Those are my tips. Dropper Is essential and keep at this moisturizing care at the SKIN LEVEL everyday and you're beard and skin (likely) will really be showing it (if your skin could be seen). Flaunt that beard and embrace the 70's my friends!

Im going to get the negative out of the way right now. The beard brush - I've been consistantly using it since I got it (multiple times a day, got 4 days ago). The brush sheds bristles quite a bit. I'm sure that with more long term use the bristle shedding will slow down a lot. Positives! - The entire thing comes in a fantasticly presented box that has the oil, balm, brush, scissors (very sharp and heavy duty), comb, and the travelers pouch. Very well presented and the comb and brush are perfectly sized as compared to miltiple different packs, not too small, not too large. The oil - it does exactly as it is supposed to do. It softens up those tough and grainy facial hairs. It has practically no odor. It does have a very light oily scent to it (for the more sensitive nostrile) but it is hardly noticeable after it dries. The balm - no scent AT ALL. It does a great job at giving you some control over scruffy facial hair. It allows you to shape it a bit and it sticks where you want it pretty well. Scissors - extremely high quality and very sharp (I'm a professional knife/utensil sharpener so I know sharp). Rubber stopper on the one side gives it a fantasitic feel when trimming. Very heavy duty, but very smooth and clean cutting. The comb - nice solid wood comb that easily glides through facial hair. Good sized (could practically use for top of head) what more to say? The brush - heavy and solid feeling, bristles are a little stiffer than you may expect to be ready for that. It does a great job getting facial hairs nice and straight. Again, it does shed bristles more than you will like to see, but will stop after some use. Travel bag - hardly big enough for all the items. Not really a huge deal, but be aware that it's tough to fit everything in it. Hope this helps!

I honestly don't have comments on how well this product works, but I wanted to still leave a comment based off of its giftability, if you're shopping this as a gift for someone. My brother loves growing a beard but has never taken any maintenance to it, so it's usually frizzy, unruly, and leaves him looking scraggly (ha!). He's also one to never have any ideas for what he wants as a gift. When he opened this up, he actually lit up, gave me a thumbs up and said this was a good idea (which is a HUGE win if you knew him). He immediately started using the brush while opening other gifts, saying that his best friend uses one like that one and his beard always looks good. This might have raised his bar for personal standards. The box is small and the bottles inside of it are small as well, but they look like they will last quite a while. Despite all that, it makes a great, well presented little gift. If you're looking for something for someone (or yourself) with facial hair, or that cares about their appearance, go for this!

As for my first beard grooming kit, I didn't know what to expect. There were a lot of options from which to choose on Amazon. However, I was extremely satisfied with my order. The scissors are definitely high quality and easy to grip. The included beard brush is nicely made and isn't overly abrasive on the skin. Now why would you get a grooming kit? Well, you want the beard oil and beard balm of course! Both are very good and definitely keep my beard from having hairs from randomly spike out. Moreover, my beard feels even more luscious and soft. However, (not so much complaint, but just an FYI), the beard oil and balm do have a (slight) lemony scent. However, I don't think it's overly conspicuous to others. Overall, very happy. Would buy again.

I really didn't think my husband could get more self involved with his need to grow a beard. But this product has done it. He even fell asleep and I used the scissors to trim the sides of his ever growing beard. This sits on his night stand next to his acid reflux pills and that's it. So it is important. He likes to brush it with the short bristle brush and insist I touch it. I'm not sure if the oil and other product is making it softer because I try to pull away from affection due to not wanting a shot glass full of whatever is left on his beard that he drank. He seems pleased and this gift was the only thing I got him for Valentines day and he didn't give me that look that made me feel like I was being cheap. He actually got me 100 dollar flowers which the flowers died and showed up basically clinging to life. But not this BEARD! This beard now has purpose and pride and a shine that you apparently need to feel. My cat also likes to be brushed with the wooden comb and she likes to bite it the same with the soft brush and it fits all nicely back into the box like I never touched it to brush the cat with it. Also side note the box has a magnetic "flap" don't try to rip it open like we did before realizing that. Also strong box didn't break while we figured out how to open it.

So the kit has its highs and lows. I'll talk about each item in turn. Note, I have never bought/used beard balm or oil before so take my reviews of those with something of a grain of salt I guess. Comb: it's a wooden comb. It's going to last. I kinda wish it was a dual sided with small/large teeth, but I knew that when ordering. It seems quality so 4 stars. My daughter did come in and said "Daddy, this is the most beautiful comb in the world" so based on that... Brush: pretty nice. The bristles are medium stiffness, nice size. 4 stars as I would like slightly stiffer bristles, but that is just me. I'll be interested to see how long the brush lasts. I'll report back if bristles are coming out, etc. Scissors: this may be my favorite part of this kit. They aren't crazy sharp, but are pretty well made. Feel very solid. Definitely the nicest pair of scissors I've ever gotten as part of something. 5 stars. EDIT: Disappointment here. About 1 month in and they have started rusting just from ambient moisture. All over the handle and blade rust spots are forming. Down to 2 stars. Beard balm: seems nice. No real odor and does a good job of taming the beard. It would be nice if there was some kind of mild scent to it other than 'wax'. 3.5 stars. Edit: Nice light hold. My wife said it had a bit of a scent but neither of us smell it now. Beard oil: not a fan of this. It may be 'unscented' but that means you smell cooking oil all day. Not sure if others can smell it, but I can't get over the fact that I'm walking around smelling like cooking oil. The base oil may be nice but it needs something (in my opinion) so that the scent of oil isn't so dominant. I am going to try to add some essential oils to it or something just to make it usable. 1 star. Edit: Okay, so if you are shopping know that this oil is totally unscented. It does smell like cooking oil. BUT I'm not sure that is a bad thing. My wife added a few drops of essential oil of some kind to it and it seems really nice now. So if you have an essential oil you like the smell of, this seems like a great way to get a nice blend of oils to add your personal scent to. I've gone from 1 star to 4 stars on it after a few drops of essential oil took away that 'oil smell.' Overall I'd rate it 3.5 stars if I could. It has all the parts and there is nothing wrong with each part except the scissors. If they weren't rusting I'd be at 4 stars. If you count the scissors as a 'bonus' and not really part of the kit then it's a solid 4-5 star product (everything else is good).
