Good for the price and accurate on reading but not a fluke meter
Its a good meter and registers the readings fast, how he clamp opens is a little bit funny and takes some pressure. The leads say they are good for 1000 volts but I wouldn't trust them above 300 volts to be safe and not willing to try it with some knock off leads. The light only stays on for 30seconds and if your doing a amp reading it will shut off at 10 min which is kinda dumb but saves the batteries. The case is ok and it feels good in your hand.

GREAT HVAC MULTIMETER!
GREAT MULTIMETER! ESPECIALLY FOR SOMEONE STARTING IN HVAC. I'm a HVAC technician, I have all the name brand meters, fluke, fieldpiece, uei, klien, etc. but I wanted something cheap that can test everything we need in a HVAC multimeter, it feels great, it works perfectly. Microfarad UF readings are exactly on point, temp works good, ampmeter works perfect, reads voltage perfect, etc. If your starting in HVAC you definetley should get this meter, especially for the price! It compares identical to my name brand ones, you might want to get better leads/probes, but the ones that come with it are still great. Only downfall is the manual is horrible, but if you know how to use a meter you shouldnt even need the manual. The top light only works when checking amps, and the backlight works on every function, just hold the "hold" button down for 2 seconds. And change the setting for temp, ohms/capacitance, or voltage depending on your needs.

Sturdy clamp
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The clamp is very sturdy and the whole unit is easy to operate and hold.I didn't notice there's a feature to measure temperature with optional probes... it is a neat and interesting bonus feature to have! I found the amp meter function useful in situation where it's tricky to get a reading, such an upgrade from my old multi-meter bought from HF!

Impressed with accuracy and total features.
-I bought this to get a a clamp-on ammeter for "occasional use", but the additional features and accuracy make this a meter I'm likely to carry routinely.- Out of the box temperature accuracy is spot on.. not always found on today's "lower" priced meters, I didn't buy this unit for the temperature feature, but the out of the box accuracy is a pleasant surprise.-4 digit (6000cts) display, was a selling point in selecting this meter.-meter backlight and LED to see where the "clamps are going" in low light conditions is a nice touch.-The NCV (non contact voltage-feature) is gaining popularity on the newest DMM's, to me it is a bit gimmicky and for the most part unreliable.. I have to admit, this meters NCV feature is consitent, the best NCV I've experienced. The fit and finish and color (black) on this meter is real good, ..I have an older clamp-on that feels and looks cheap.. this one looks and feels like a quality product. The only negative is, compared to other handheld meters the display is smaller. I knew this when I chose it, my 60+YO eyes like larger displays, however this 4 digit display is very "crisp" and easy to see. The contrast is quite good.

Helped me test and improive home A/C performance
I used the meter to test the amperage on my home A/C. It had failed to start the other day and after a little cool down it restarted. I had an A/C repairman check it and he said it was in-specs but noted it was using a lot of the max LRA amperage to start. He said since it was 103 degree day, its possible the compressor went into a heat protection mode and failed to start. He asked if the lights flicker when my A/C starts and I confirmed it always does. He recommended adding a hard-start kit to give the compressor a little boost to help it start. He siad he waould charge me $300 for the kit and 30 minutes labor. He said I could probably do it myself after recognizing that had some basic mechanical competence. He said it would by under $100 for me to DIY. He also recommended getting a clamp meter. I was able to order kit and meter for under $80. He quickly showed me the basics before he left. I ordered this meter and the 5-2-1 Hard start kit for my 4 ton A/C. I was able to test that my inrush amperage was 98A vs the max 104A LRA (locked rotor amperage)spec found on the side of the unit. I gather LRA means the compressor rotor is completely stopped. So it took 94% of the max amperage to start the A/C compressor. After I installed the hard start kit, I have the readings shown in the picture. The max inrush amperage was now 52.6 A or only 51% of the max LRA. That was a huge difference! Also, the lights did NOT flicker when a/c turned on. Very satisfied with the meter. The instruction manual on the other hand was extremely basic. Its 3/4" thick because it has the same instructions in 4-5 languages. The type is super small. Also the instructions are badly written. Obviously translated from Chinese literally and only pictures just points out the position and briefest description of the function. Overall, its a nice to have meter for easily testing amperage. If you are familiar with multimeters then you will figure out the basics.

Good meter for the price
It's not a fluke, but is definitely a 5-star meter for the price. I've used it a lot as a backup in my well service business. I was glad I had it with me when I left my other ammeter on and ran down the batteries. This one has auto-shut-off! I tested frequency on 60 Hz, it read 59.9, which is good! It reads frequency with the probes or the clamp. Instruction manual is basic. If you need instructions to use a meter, maybe you should take a class. Temperature was a surprise bonus, especially the included thermocouple. I prefer manual ranging, but autorange is fine and saves a lot of space on the dial. Refresh rate is ok. I prefer a faster refresh rate for autorange, but in this price range it's fine. If you do troubleshooting for a living, get a Fluke for your primary meter, and one of these to keep at home so you won't be taking the Fluke out of the truck and forgetting to put it back.

Good, if not great.
This (MK05) is a very nice meter, for what it does. The build quality is excellent for the price. It feels solid. Both jaws open, which must cost more to build, but I like that they've not cut corners here.Clamp meters seem odd to me, compared to traditional multimeters. But they have a certain attraction. The slim shape can be easier to carry and fit in a toolbag. And of course the clamp has its specific purpose, to measure current without breaking the circuit (you do need to separate a single wire though, or buy a shunt.)This model, like many clamp meters, cannot measure inline current via the test leads. This makes it less suitable as a full-featured general purpose meter. I don't often need that and can live without it, but anyone planning to buy just one meter should be aware of this. This has one feature that I consider essential for safety: the max/min function. Using this you can set it to measure maximum voltage, apply the test probes while LOOKING, remove the probes safely, then check the reading. This is much safer than reading the display while trying to hold the probes in place, in my opinion. This option is missing from many modern meters, even expensive ones. Maybe they believe having shielded probe tips is enough. I disagree. Your fingertips are unlikely to be insulated, so if you slip...On that note, these probes are not shielded close to the tip, but do have removable protective covers. You could customise these covers by cutting off the end to expose as much of the metal tip as you feel necessary, I suppose. Or buy a good set of after-market test leads. One thing I dislike is that when reading voltages, it defaults to DC. You need to change the selection by pushing a button if you want to measure AC voltage. If you leave it on DC by accident it probably reads 0V when you apply any AC voltage - including 240V mains. I haven't tested that to confirm, but it could mislead you dangerously. It would be better to default to AC readings, that should at least register voltage if DC is applied, even if it is a few volts out and doesn't show polarity. Is this my ideal, all-singing, all-dancing meter? No. But looking at the price and the features, I couldn't resist buying it. And having received it, the quality has definitely confirmed that this was a worthwhile purchase. It comes with a basic fabric case, but I would suggest keeping the box it comes in too. It isn't oversized, and will give good protection for storage/transport.I'm giving it 4 stars due to the limited feature set, not because of any real flaws. Considering the price 5 stars might be fairer, but there's my reason.

Good product poor instruction manual
The clamp meter itself is well made and robust. It arrived in good packaging with two days of ordering it. So far as have been able to us it, it appears to to work very well . However the user manal which comes with is absolutely hopeless unless you are professional electrician! I had to go online and search for manuals from other similar clamp meters to ensure I was using it correctly. Even now i am unsure how some of the functions avalaible on it should be used. It's a pity because I think this is a good product.

Fiable

Very pleased with my purchase. Excellent value
Very pleased with my new toy. I've been looking for an affordable clamp meter for a while. I'm very pleased with my purchase so far. It comes in a handy bag and looks very sturdy. I was pleased to open the package to find out it already comes with all the bits you need, including batteries.I'm very pleased with the instructions manual as well. I'm a newbie and having clear instructions will make my life easier. In my case I'm going to use it to help me upgrading the electrical systems in my boat so it was imperative that it was able to do both DC and AC readings. Now I just need to watch few videos and get cracking !

A great meter at a really good price
A rock solid build and good quality read out - this is a great meter with the advantage of having a clamp that also enables non-contact readings. The selector dial is stiff to operate which is good as it won't accidentally slip to the wrong setting. Its very sensitive and also conveniently has a temperature probe to see how hot components are getting.Excellent value considering the cost some meters go for.Extremely well made.
