The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2018 Review: Buy this book! - I purchased this book a couple years ago before our first family WDW trip. I purchased the 2017 version to plan the trip we just got back from, because it had info on the new things at the parks, Pandora in Animal Kingdom most notably. This book is so comprehensive, and such a helpful planning tool. If you visit WDW without a plan, you will be sadly diaappointed. My husband wasn't too keen on following the plans our first trip, he likes to just take it easy. I got him to agree to following the plan until we took our break each day, and be a little more lax in the afternoons - he became a believer after a couple days. Unless you go to WDW regularly, and don't mind seeing just a a few things each day, you really need to plan your days. If this is a once in a lifetime trip, or you'll only go a couple times, do your homework. The details on the hotels, Magical Express, dining, and each ride were so complete, I could not believe it. Or, don't buy the book so I can enjoy the low lines when I visit!😉 Review: Essential for a successful trip to the House of Mouse - A big destination like Walt Disney World requires and equally big guide book. Yes it's long, yes it's detailed, yes it's enough to make even the most type A personality say "isn't that a bit much?". But WDW is the type of place that requires a good deal of advance planning if you want to avoid hours in lines and wasting precious money. I have used previous editions of this guide on past trips and can vouch for how well the tips work. I have visited WDW enough times that I would have called myself an "expert", at least up until a few years ago. With the Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom, Pandora at Animal Kingdom, and new Fast Pass + and Magic Band system, I would have had my Mickey Ears handed to me if I had moved forward with my planned 2018 trip without reading the most recent guide. Even if you've been to WDW before, if you haven't been in the last 5 years you are in for a surprise, and if you haven't prepared for it - it won't be a pleasant one. Even the most basic of trips is going to cost you into four figures, the cost of this book is a drop in the bucket compared to that. Think of it as "trip insurance" if nothing else. I would recommend the e-book/Kindle version just because of size (the paperback is nothing short of enormous) but either version is invaluable. Fore warned is fore armed!

Essential for a successful trip to the House of Mouse
A big destination like Walt Disney World requires and equally big guide book. Yes it's long, yes it's detailed, yes it's enough to make even the most type A personality say "isn't that a bit much?". But WDW is the type of place that requires a good deal of advance planning if you want to avoid hours in lines and wasting precious money. Real World Disney Planning
If you are going to Walt Disney Word and looking for the book to cut through the publicity machine that Disney is, you will want this book. Its tone, can be skeptical (some say cynical), and not always the Disney "cheerleading" guide that some purists insist only be written about Disney properties. Please know that there are no pretty pictures of the Disney parks in this book. It is a "battle" guide that does not pull punches. The author(s) are traffic gurus and are looking to get you through the park, not standing in lines. If you are an "easy going", "take things as they come" type of person, then this book is not going to be your cup of tea. If you are looking to get the most from your dollar by avoiding lines, bad food, and brutally honest opinions, then this book will do you well. If you have kids, this will show you the way to limit stress, and keep everyone happy with planning tips and schedules appropriate to age groups and interests. It is okay to get the Birnbaum book for the kids. Let them see the pictures and read the descriptions of the park, but if you want to be serious about minimizing the stresses of a family vacation, use this book. I have used editions of this book for the last 10 years, and I will always by a copy of this book when planning my future vacations. I have saved time and money, and always find this book to improve the quality of my trip. My three tips for YOU to make your WDW vacation the best; 1. Stay onsite and use the Disney transportation system; 2. Take an afternoon break from the parks and get off your feet; 3. Use Fast Pass - Make Fast Pass your friend...

Wow, Just Wow.
If you want to be really confused and overwelmed about your trip to Disney World, then man oh man, this is the book for you. It has everything in it. It has about 10000 more things in it then you will have time to do once you actually get to Disney World. Look, if you're a psychopath and need to have every single detail about your upcoming trip planned out then this will help you get super organized so that you can be super disappointed later when you finally get there and realize that the lines are forever and the people are everywhere. And you can't just start knocking those people off either (to get them to move out of your way), there are laws against that you know even if they deserve it. Once you get there you will know what I mean, trust me.

Just do it - buy it -read it and have a daily schedule, or just burn your cash now and don't bother going. Don't go in high summer - long lines - 2 hours for 2 minute ride....... Don't go in summer - heat that will knock you over and kill the kids/oldies Do go low season - better hotel room on Disney for same or LOWER cash...... Do go low season - no lines at all - ride 'till you puke......... Do go low season - warm weather - just perfect....Do go low season book direct with Disney hotel, try the best and work back, fax 3 days before travel and do a deal, al least 30% off their first offer. i.e Polynesian Lagoon View [best room] rack @ $280, expect in low season to get for $160 - don't ask = don't get. You must leave to last few days before travel though, same day if you dare... don't worry WDW has thousands of rooms, and the FRONT DESK supervisor, HAS to fill the hotel, so WILL offer you a excellent rate last minute - only deal with FRONT DESK of your chosen hotel, not the USA 800 central reservations or other - only Front Desk. Low season some water parks may be closed and shorter park hours - but IT IS the ONLY time to go, if you want to enjoy WDW. The book is ESSENTIAL, I said ESSENTIAL. Do go independently, not in a package, this IS CHEAPER in low season ,allows you to change hotels, fly schedule, and with a 10 hour flight this is worth it.

Easy book with all appropriate information and even some that I had not thought about! Very useful. Plans available at the end, plus all the web content. For a trip that expensive, I would STRONGLY recommend to get this and read it before you leave.

I used this book extensively to plan all aspects of my upcoming trip. I have used older versions for previous trips and found their advice and tips to be spot on.
