The ONLY shaving product you need besides your choice of razor and blades - wet shaving at its best and SIMPLEST!
I have been wet shaving with safety razors now for about 1 yr. When i first started I was excited and researched everything, tried everything, LOVED trying new products in search of that perfect, comfortable, bss shave! It was awesome! From cremes, to soaps, to triple-milled soaps, to after shaves, to after balms, to lotions, from synthetic to different types of badger hair brushes. on and on and on and on..... Well it turns out the best shave in the world - is extremely anti-climatic. You don't need brushes, bowls, tonics, after-shave, balms, cremes, soaps, mugs, alum bars, face-prep routines, shampoos/conditioner rituals in the shower.. none of that... ever again. In the end.. here is all you need to know and the ONLY advice you will ever have to listen to again: 1. Get your choice of razor - whatever you fancy 2. Get your choice of blade - whatever you fancy 3. Get a shaving oil - whatever you fancy. That's it. Hard to believe isn't it? Now here's what you're going to do with this setup and why. 1. take your shower like normal. No need for any face-prep routines anymore like washing with generic glycerine soap, or a shampoo, or a conditioner. you can choose to either shave while you shower (my recommendation) or shave after you shower. Either way. 2. no need for face-prep anymore as you start to shave. no need to create a lather. you are just going to use your shave oil by itself (no need to use it as a "face prep" before you lather on creme/soap either.. the shave oil is all you need). So read the directions and I recommend using those diretions PER SHAVING PASS (not per overall shave). For this product, that's 3 drops (i double that for shaving my head - so 5-6 drops per pass on shaving my head). 3. rub the shaving oil on your face. nothign special, just coat the area you are going to shave pretty evenly, etc. It will take you 2-3 shaves to get used to how to judge the coating of oil on your face if you're coming from creme/soap lathering. 4. shave. You will only need 1-2 passes at most, you can do 3 for a super super smooth-clean shave for those special occasions. Your pass progression isn't all that important - i would just recommend not going against-the-grain on 1st pass. Other than that, go in whatever order you want - it won't matter. You'll be clean without any irritation regardless. 5. after a good rinse, do a finishing rinse with as cold of water as you can stand or make, (to re-close and re-secure your pores so nothing gets in them to infect). Your choise if you want to put balm on or a moisturizing creme - no longer required however. Additional Benefits of using shave oil: No brushes No soaps/cremes No bowls/mugs No razor stands (can just leave the razor in shower now that you can just shave in the shower) No need for alum bars, tonics, after shaves, or balms. Saves a lot of time (doing it with lathering up, 3-pass, rinsing, rinsing out sink - for both head and face was 2 hrs. i'm now at 40 mins including shower time). Extends the life of your blades (atleast doubles their life is my experience) I am also convinced that it also negates the need to find THE ABSOLUTE PERFECT blade as well, or having to get the sharpest blade (I use Ultra blades btw.. which i decided upon prior to discovering shave oil. They were the most comfy blade i'd ever used, and also somehow gave me the closest shave on top of that - and i've dried personna, feather, derby, and wilkinsons). Probably b/c there is less clashing and "violence" during a shave using shave oil. the shave oil not only creates that protective and super slick coating on your skin for razor gliding, it also does a better job than othre face-prepping routines as far as softening up your whiskers so they're more easily removed. You shave better b/c you can see everything you are doing (you can see when the blade hits your skin so no accidental digs into your skin). The first 6 mos of shaving - before discovering shave oil - no matter what i did i coudl not avoid getting irritation on my lower neck because I have extremely tough/coarse hair and bumps i believe. It is very sensitive and with creme/soaps, my razor would actually get caught there, stuck, i'd have to be very careful going atg there. And yet no matter what i did, stubble would remain and a nice red bumpy area. With shave oil - i'm able to get thru their CLEAN and smooth, even follow up with clean-up passes... no more red! no more bumps! It was good to see my natural skin there again finally after just seeing irritated red bumps there for 6 months! So... you shave quicker you shave better guaranteed no more irritation (where as i coudn't avoid it before no matter what i did with soap/cremes) your blades last double all your expenses are gone beyond just getting a razor, replacement blades, and shaving oil (which is cheaper than creme/soap too!) Lastly. One 2oz bottle lasted me exactly 6 months. And thats somebody who shaves their HEAD and face (and uses the recommended # of drops PER PASS, not per shave!) So that means a normal person will probably take 1 yr to use 1 bottle, possibly 2 years to use 1 bottle if they only use the # of drops per shave rather than per pass like me. Now.. I don't know if this is the best shaving oil out there - I didn't research it that intensely - just wanted to try shaving oils. And in fact i know this is not rated the best (but rated well) with its selling point being more its price. There may be more higher-end and more luxurious experiencing shave oils out there and Im excited to find out and try (albeit it will take another 6 mos to finish off this 2nd bottle! lol). If you are into wet shaving for the best shave, the least expensive shave (that's why we all started right? to save money?), taht also happens to be the fastes and simplest shave - buy shave oil. And you will NOT be disappointed if you by this one. If you are into wet shaving for the ritual of it, the scents, the smells, the hot towel treatments, the satisfaction of lathering up via brush and starting off your day with that type of envigoration - then you can't go wrong with buying a cheap product like this to save your skin irritation and make your shaving ritual smoother and more comfy with this product. Good Shaving!

I'M FRANKLY AMAZED. A SHAVING ODYSSEY
For the last couple of years I've been fooling around with razors, blades, and shaving creams trying to get a closer, more comfortable shave. At age 82 I've done a heckuva lot of shaving, with both conventional and electric razors. I don't have a really dense beard, but being born with curly hair my whiskers are stiff, grow in all directions, and often don't stand up like nice guys so I can easily mow them down. Instead they like to lie flat and try to avoid the approaching razor's edge. Up till now I've got my closest, most comfortable shaves using a Schick Quattro razor with a four blade (plus edger) titanium refill cartridge. An absolutely identical clone is made under the brand name Wilkinson Sword. I bought one in Italy, where I also discovered Proraso a great shaving soap made in Florence. Used with a nice, soft badger brush I thought that combination was pretty much just peachy. Of course the refill blade cartridges cost a fortune. Then a persistent TV commercial for the MicroTouch One Classic Safety Razor with 24 FREE blades caught my attention by promising "The Best Shave of Your Life!" That sent me off to search Amazon, my recent source for everything. I ended up not with the MicroTouch magic product but with a Japanese twist-to-open Feather Razor and 100 Astra Platinum blades made in St. Petersburg, Russia. I also ended up cutting myself two or three times every time I shaved. I put the whole works in a drawer when Harry came along in an e-mail offering a beautifully designed $15 dollar razor and German-made four-blade refill cartridge that cost wa-a-a-y-y less than Schick, Gillette, or Wilkinson Sword Competitors. The packaging was beautiful, the price was right, the flexible head on the Harry's razor comfortably followed the contours of my face and I thought I was finally there. With Harry's blade and Proraso soap I was getting a nice shave, even though it didn't seem quite as close as I thought it could be. I kept thinking about those sharp, sharp Russian blades and the Feather razor that I was afraid to use for fear of bleeding to death. At that point I heard about Shave Secret Shaving Oil and :I was also at the point of needing to order more Harry's blades. The Shave Secret oil cost about six bucks. Having come this far on my shaving journey, I thought, "What the hell is six bucks? Maybe there something I'm missing here." There was. I dug out my banished Feather razor, put in a new Astra blade, and have used it with Shave Secret for the last three or four weeks, shaving daily or every other day. I have never had such an effortless shave. It is like there is no blade in the razor to drag through tough whiskers. Except the whiskers mysteriously disappear and I can see them as they are flushed out of the razor when I rinse it under the hot water faucet. I have no razor cuts. As long as I periodically re-wet my face, I can razor over it with, against and across the grain repeatedly with no razor burn or discomfort. I just shaved and as I write this I can rub my cheeks, throat, chin and jaw which now feel about like they did when I was five years old, like the proverbial baby's butt. The downside? With gray whiskers, when I apply Shave Secret to my face, I can't see it. It doesn't make any lather like my lovely Proraso soap did, so I can't really see where I've been shaving. I just have to be a little more careful that I don't miss any parts of my now amazingly smooth visage. It's a small price to pay.

Worth a try
Initially, I considered the cost of Shave Secret to be excessive given its price and bottle volume. However, upon receipt and review of the instructions, it became clear that only a minimal amount is required per application, which I found to be entirely sufficient for me. Should additional lubrication be needed, it is recommended to add water rather than more product. This understanding has significantly altered my perception of its value. Furthermore, a notable advantage is its transparent application, which allows for precise visibility of the beard line during shaving, thereby facilitating a clean and accurate shave.

This is a slick, top perforance, quality shaving oil at a great price
This is my shaving routine: Step 1: Pre Soak Hair usually after shower Step 2: Apply Oil use only a few drops (too much will clog the razor) put on face and then rub in in circular motion, let set from 30 seconds to 3 minutes depending on brand Step 3: Apply Shave cream lather Step 4: Shave - I usually do three passes - down, horizontal, up against the grain. Over the years I've tried all brands of oil. I've used The Art of Shaving (my personal favorite), Bulldog’s Original, Bevel, Taylor of Old Bond Street, Vikings Blade, Alonzo's Sensational, Lather & Wood Shaving Co. have found prices range from $8.00 to $14.00 an ounce. For me they all do a pretty good job if applied correctly but with any product comparisons some are better than others, #1: some are excellent exceed expectations, #2: some work as expected, #3: others are a little underwhelming at first application and will require trial and error. Leaving me to the conclusion that oils are subjective and to one's preference. Shave Secret surprises in that it sits at the lower end of #1. For the price I expected #2 or #3. Shave Secret is a bargain that doesn't quite reach the performance level of The Art of Shaving and Bevel but sometimes I barely tell the difference. I've read from other reviewers that apply only the shaving oil without any shaving cream or lather, shave and then give their review. For me, I use shave oil as a pre-shave. Sometimes in place of oil I use a pre-shave cream; I only use one brand: Proraso Pre-Shave Conditioning Cream. Personally I do not consider Shave Secret as a "budget" shaving oil but a great bargain for a quality product at a great price (redundancy intentional), it is that good. I recommend you try it using my routine.

Great shave
I really like this shave oil. I'm on the road quite a bit, and keep this in my toiletry bag. It's easier than trying to pack shave cream, and, because it's so small, it fits easily into a quart bag for ease at airport security check points. In addition to convenience, it provides a great shave. After you shower, keep your face wet. Apply about 5 drops to you hand; rub your hands together and then massage the oil onto your face. Then you just shave as you normally would. Because this is an oil, rather than a cream, you'll need to rinse out your razor more. Probably every pass down your face you'll need to give it a quick rinse. Otherwise it will clog your razor. After I shave in the direction of the hair, I massage my face again (without adding any more oil) and shave against the grain for a really close shave. You never need to add more oil, but you may need a little water or to wet the razor more. When I'm done, I massage my face again and call it good. You don't need aftershave. I have sensitive skin, and this product has never been an issue. Plus, it smells great and feels good! This is a great product for anyone, especially if you travel a lot, or you are over the lather of the shave cream. Another perk is that this is all natural oils rather than a bunch of chemicals.

Surprisingly, it really worked
I haven't put any kind of blade to my face in over 29 years now. My neck and around my mouth would always get all red and bumpy with ingrown hairs no matter what I tried. I hated the discomfort and the appearance. So since June of 1992 I've only used the trimmer kind of blade on my face to get me down to a 5 o'clock shadow for nearly 3 decades. But I got tired of that, as did a few girl friends and ex wife, so I happened across something on facebook for this product and thought it was worth giving it a try. I'm on a few weeks of vacation and not going anywhere, just doing things around the house for new windows and such, so it was the perfect time to give it a shot. If it didn't work, I had plenty of time for my skin to return to normal before I had to go out around people again. I almost forgot what it is like to have smooth skin. I have been shaving my head for all that time, and the skull never gives me issues, but it's been nearly 3 decades since my face was smooth. I did just as it said, wet my face quite a bit, then got four drops of this in my palm and worked it in all around my face, unboxed the first actual razor blade I've bought in years, and started cutting away. And it worked. No discomfort, not a single nick. That was this morning. By now my neck would've already been a red mess of bumps and hives and irritation. Yet not a single bit of discomfort, no bumps, no redness anywhere. I can't believe that I was actually able to shave for the first time in this long, and that first time did nothing at all to annoy my face. No doubt, this stuff is real and it does as it claimed. I can finally decide to go smooth faced now if I want.
