This is a great little player with surprisingly impressive audio quality for the price. It handles lossless files very well and delivers a clean, balanced and detailed sound that I genuinely didn’t expect at this budget. One of the real strengths here is the customer support. It’s genuinely first-rate. I’ve contacted them a couple of times — not due to any fault, but for guidance on getting the best performance and understanding how the player handles files and folders. They replied quickly, clearly, and actually knew what they were talking about. This is my second M30 (my first one from March 2023 was recently damaged by water), and the support has been consistently excellent. The player itself is very well made: solid, nicely weighted and with buttons that feel positive and precise. The scroll wheel is especially useful for fast navigation through large libraries. A useful note for anyone with big music collections: using folder browsing and genre browsing allows far more tracks to be accessed than the “All Songs” mode does. And it works on a branded 512GB microSD card well. The Amazon description should be updated to say it supports 512GB. Overall: great sound, compact size, very strong value for money, and rare to find support this responsive these days. Highly recommended.

Does everything I wanted. I've gotten big into lossless audio and this did the job well as a portable player. The SD card it came with wasn't reading at first, pop it out, put it back in, easy works fine aftwards. The sound is good, the controls are intuitive, and while the menus are a little clumsy and slow to get around, it does the job perfectly fine considering it's really just for music. Easy to go by album or by folder and play what I wanted, even if not as fast as other methods on other devices. A little frustrating the device won't appear on my computer when plugged in with USB, so in order to load up the SD card with music I had to transfer them from a device that could read the SD card directly, maybe something to keep in mind if you intend to pick one up. Good device, feels well built, good tactile controls. Not perfect, but does everything it should as well as you could want it to.

This is the best MP3 player that I've ever owned! I know some people didn't like the weight of it but I love it. It is so sturdy, even when I've accidentally dropped it or sat on it there's no worries of it breaking. The sound quality is crisp with plenty of base and it's very straightforward to put your playlist onto it. I would definitely recommend this product!

I have given this player 5 stars because it suits me perfectly. The down side for some people may be its weight (it’s not dreadful but heavy for such a small object), but it hasn’t bothered me. The sound quality is excellent but the very best feature for me is that it has real, physical buttons to press for playback controls. Why is that important? With a little practice you can change tracks, vol up, vol down, start, pause etc with the player in your pocket. You don’t need to look at a screen to use these controls. It’s great for walking and podcasts! So if you are looking for a solidly built, easy to use player that you don’t need to put on your glasses every time you want to replay or change volume etc this could be for you. As I have said, as a walking companion it’s perfect for me.

With 58 year old ears and tinnitus caused by too many loud concerts and playing in bands, I don't think I qualify as an audiophile, but I like decent sound quality. And this device delivers that. It's also solid and well built although the screen is easy to scratch. However the interface is awful, even archaic, and it doesn't support gapless playback so if you listen to classical pieces that move from one track to the next seamlessly, or live albums, it's very frustrating. It's supposed to recognise cue files but it doesn't. There's a prolonged gap between the end of one track and the start of the next, I guess because it has the processing power of a saucepan and reads from an SD card. It has headphones out and line out for an amp, but not a 4.4mm balanced out.. if it was half the price it would be one to take out and if it got lost ..oh well, but I don't think it's worth the asking price here. So I returned it

Leaving previous review details here incase it helps. but it broke. didnt last a full 3 months. support is not available via amazon and they've not got back by the email they're suposed to. so i'm just out on my money. I just wouldnt risk it... Previous review was 3star: So, the instructions werent the clearest. it kept turning itself off while i was trying to do set up stuff, which it turns out was the sleep mode. i assumed sleep would be after a certain time inactive. no if it's set for 2 minutes the whole player turns off in 2 minutes even mid song. which is silly. The actual music option wont play music. MP3, WAv, WMV files, all that it says it supports it just says it 'doesnt support that format'. you can however go through the folder option, and select the exact same tracks and then it will play. took me ages to work out. but doing that you can only play one folder at a time. i like to put my entire collection on shuffle and see what comes up. i should be able to through the music option but since it wont play anything obviously i cant. i have no idea if mine is just defective, or if they're all like this. But it's just so odd and complicated. The actual player has a nice feel to it, it's chunky and a good weight, decent sound, no major issues with the rest, although the thing was in my bag for a week and the screen is already scratched, but it's only aesthetic damage. I just have no idea if it's suposed to be like this, or they all do this. if they do, cant recommend it. If mines just defective and the rest arent then i think i'd be really happy with it (if i had a working one).

I'm convinced this player has a lineage, if only a lineage among budget HD audio players. The wheel, dual DACs and software similarities (replete with the same quirk) make it feel reminiscent of the now unavailable Bassplay P3000, to the extent that I believe the same architecture or employees have to be involved somewhere. I purchased the P3000 in 2018 and it served me well for years. I've now repurchased this item, the Mechen, to replace the identical item I lost 6 months ago, so I guess that's enough of a sign that it gets my endorsement. I'm a metal fan and I like to listen to music in a great amount of detail at borderline unsafe volumes. This device drives my 32 ohm headphones with power to spare, especially after I set the line level to 0db. Sound quality is excellent and I don't believe I'm missing out on much that people experience from players at 10x the price. These players simply undercut the entire market and get right to the heart of what an old school fan of portable music devices from the 2000s wants: good quality sound, no nonsense operation, file transfer that you can do at a mouseclick (it shows up as a Windows drive so you can drag and drop). If you're interested in other things like how it interfaces with third party software, bluetooth, gapless playback, visuals, etc. then I have no clue. Perhaps there are better choices in that case, no doubt more expensive. I mentioned a quirk in the software: as mentioned in some other reviews and also present in the old P3000, folders will show up in the browsing interface in the order they're copied over, rather than alphabetically. I saw a suggestion on this page that this might be remedied with a tool or some update? I can't confirm that because I don't really have to deal with it. I rarely add new music to my device. When I do add music, I'm in the habit of putting all the album/artist folders in a parent folder and dragging that folder onto the player - when you do this, Windows copies it all over in alphabetical order anyway. Everything neat and tidy, if you need it. The wheel also feels superior to the one on the old P3000, which loosened and became imprecise after a year or so. This one feels tighter, but in any case you don't need it. Everything is navigable and operable by the face buttons alone, if you share my preference for that.

Looks and feels really nice, sound quality is fantastic. The user interface let's it down for me, it seems a bit clunky and not well thought through. Just a little adjustment to the size and placement of the select button would be a great improvement. The instructions are difficult to read without a good magnifying glass as are most modern instruction books. Overall I like it but would I buy another? Probably not. The SD card provided that I had spent a lot of time adding music files too just stopped functioning after two weeks. Fine I bought another SD card, and it works perfectly so far.

I wanted to get away from using my phone. I enjoy listening to music. It works well. Seems easy enough to use. The sound quality is superior to anything I have used before in this formatt. Draw backs no bluetooth, if you consider that a draw. You need a wired ear plugs or headset of high quality to get the most out of this unit. Trust me it is worth it.

Tiene excelente sonido, de los mejores que he escuchado. Sin embargo exactamente un año después de la compra, dejó de encender y sólo hacía estática. Además de que la interfaz es algo irritante de navegar. Considerando el precio me parece que fue de provecho.
