Understanding Bluetooth LASER mice
Connectivity issues will always be attributed to one of 4 things -(1) Material interference: This could be from a super-dense wood desk, to metal materials in the draws of a wood desk, to a metal desk, to a specific type of wall or barrier separation between the RF connected components. Additionally, the offset of the RF plane can play a roll in this - mouse on the far side of the desk top, while the BT dongle is plugged into the bottom of the computer which is on the floor.(2) Electromagnetic interference: You could have another bluetooth device on the same exact frequency and code, or you could have various electrical or electronic components that are emitting weak RF signals (such as a LED desk lamp and a printer that is on) that are combining to cause intermodulation and are causing signal interference with the RF components in question.(3) Distance between transmitter and receiver: Bluetooth components have 3 specified ranges under perfect laboratory conditions -[A] Class 3 (short) - allows direct line-of-sight transmissions up to 10 centimeters / 3.93700787402 inches [0 dBm][B] Class 2 (ordinary) - allows direct line-of-sight transmissions up to 10 meters / 32.80839895016667 feet [4 dBm], which is 1 mW, with auto-reductions via RSSI[C] Class 1 (long) - allows direct line-of-sight transmissions up to 100 meters / 328.0839895016665 feet [20 dBm](4) Low power from battery supplied unit: almost all RF battery operated units will fall in output (ideal RF range impacted) as the battery voltage or current level drops. In response to 'skittering' of the pointer icon on the display from mouse movement -This is a LASER based mouse (will allow great precision with ultra-high DPI accuracy), and in such would best be used with a consistant surface reflectivity. It could be a white surface (piece of paper) or a black surface (very smooth black desk top), but will likely be confused on cloth-based surfaces (cloth covered neoprene pads, depending on the 'smoothness'), or amplifing pads utilizing a texture-based plastic surface (best for LED mice), as it is looking for a very precise reflection from the surface, and little deviations in the surface will thwart that. Also make sure your lens on the underside is clean and free of any caught lint strands. It could also be a connectivity issue (see issues 1-4 above) P.S.: "white" surfaces will make your cordless mouse batteries last a little longer.Lastly: Almost all mice are customizable in response within the Control Panel menu. In battery replacement, always make sure both batteries are of the same kind (chemistry) and both have the same battery strength.

Longest life of battery for a mouse I've ever seen
I have had many such devices over the years but this one has always had the longest battery life (2+ years in my case). I literally forget that I need to change its battery. And works really well and feels good in the hand. My previous one got worn out and its buttons did not work as well after 8 years. I expect to use this one for at least that long.

Its the best mouse I have ever bought
Its the best mouse I have ever bought. The tracking precision is phenomenal.I bought Logitech MK520 Keyboard & Mouse Set. The M310 that it came with was supposed to come with a Laser mouse it didn't. It is now their "Advanced Optical" technology. The M310 was skipping and lagging. It was very annoying. Logitech Customer Service kept telling me its Laser. It is not. I chose this mouse because a friend of mine got the the bluetooth version, and it felt so much better than the Logitech M310.I wanted a mouse more precise and I got it. The HP x4000 is very precise, to the point I could draw a circle pretty well. The design is very nice and it is very comfortable. The rubber is very smooth and grips my hand perfectly. Lasts about a month for me, but thats because I am on the computer the whole day. This mouse made me realize that other mice other than Logitech are as good or better at a better price. There are a lot of reviews how to replace the batteries that got me a little scared about purchasing this mouse. Don't be scared. It is really easy. Just use ur nail to gently lift off the cover from the HP logo side and pull the blue plastic piece outward. That simple. Just be sure to put the front clips in first before the rear magnets when putting the cover back on because you may wear/break the clips that click the mouse.

Pretty good full-size mouse.
Very nice mouse, with one big but. Scroll wheel has several functions but perhaps not all are particularly useful. Detents in wheel feel help with more precise scrolling. Very good left and right button feel: light but precise. Excellent tracking on nearly any surface. Mouse pads are sooo 90s.One quirk deletes two stars for me: A very light push down on the scroll wheel of this HP mouse switches from manual to auto scroll. The push required is so light that the auto scroll function switches on frequently when I just want to scroll manually. There is no way I can find, either in the Mouse section of the control panel (Win10) or on the HP site to disable this feature (bug). I have stopped using the HP mouse and substituted a Microsoft mouse which has the auto scroll feature but requires a firmer push to implement it.This is a wireless mouse, not a Bluetooth mouse. In my experience, wireless mice (and other devices) connect nearly instantly with computer. Bluetooth devices sometimes are hard to connect and may take some time to hook up. In my opinion, Bluetooth is over rated; wireless uses a different radio technology in the 2.4GHz band and is transparent to the user.In this case the mouse is ready to use as soon as you turn it on with the small switch on the underside. One difference: The HP mouse appears to use infrared (like your TV remote) instead of visible light for mouse tracking. You can't tell if the mouse is on or off by looking for a light. You have to check the switch position. Not a disadvantage, just different.

HP x4000 Mouse Wireless Laser
