What did I do wrong? I "sharpened" a pair of kitchen scissors rendering them useless. I could give them to a class of children to play with now.

This tool sharpens both angles of a knife at the same time. Scissors only have one angle and should not be sharpened on this device. It DOES an amazing job on knives.

How do I sharpen Scissors? Flat or at an angle?

Excellent knife directions George buuut they asked about sharpening scissors. To answer that, please do not sharpen scissors on this, it will ruin them. This sharpener sharpens BOTH sides of a knife, and scissors are only sharpened on one side. If you try to use this it will make your scissors useless.

Checked the unit and there is no manufacturer's stamp on it indicating that it was made in China. On the other hand there is no indication that it isn't!!

do you have to pull in one direction only or can you go back and forth?

You can go back and forth. But it kind of binds up a little. If you pick up the blade between strokes would be better. Just pulling works great. Just rotate the discs every few strokes.
