Perfect for my record player / turntable! Built in preamp and amp saves $$$ and clutter.
I just got them after LOTS of research for my set up and I am very happy with them! Personally, I found that reddit reviews keep pointing towards more complex budget set ups for people to start out with separate parts to upgrade later, which is totally fine but takes up space and was frankly overkill for the average listener / beginner high fidelity speaker set up. I started with the Audioengine A2s because of all of the positive reviews, but after listening for 2 weeks, it was just totally lacking any mid/low end parts of my records and that was a huge adjustment. I knew people suggested buying a sub but dropping another $200-300 felt silly and added clutter to the space in my little apartment, I also didn't want to bug my neighbors with unnecessary bass. I went on the search again and decided to try the YU4s for the slightly larger size that would also give me better mid/lows out of the box. And it was the best choice! Kanto YU4s are a perfectly good set up for me (and maybe others not trying to get too intense and in the weeds on specs) for the following reasons: I needed high quality/durable (not going to upgrade in the next couple of years), aesthetically pleasing, small/medium sized table top speakers for my Fluance RT82 turntable: Pros: Built in phono pre amp and amp - I didn't have to buy either of these separate devices or cables and fit them all on the same space, this is a huge plus. They might not be the best audiophile options to give you incremental listening benefits, but the convenience and looks were important to me in my small dining room. Remote - you can adjust bass, treble, balance, volume and input all on one remote. No need for an app, or standing up to go over and adjust things. This was a big advantage over the A2s that you can't adjust anything on. Mid / lows for the size are impressive! I really don't see a need for a subwoofer as I'm just listening to records in a room that is about 15 x 15 feet Price - without having the buy an amp or preamp, it was a good all-in-one. Cons: really haven't noticed anything yet for my space. I'm excited to have more people over to just enjoy my entertaining space which is now a little listening room and dining room in one!

Great product!
Had the UM2, upgraded to the UM4, well worth it, great product, excellent fidelity as a near field monitor.

Sound great, look great, the best versatility, energy efficient
Great speakers. There are others in this price range and even lower that might sound pretty close, but they are either ugly or don't have the right inputs, or are energy inefficient, or some combination of those 3. These have a fairly modern bluetooth implementation, including aptx, which is necessary for decent wireless sound. It was between these and the peachtree m24, but the m24 does not have aptx. They pair very easily, have easy to use controls. Construction/build-quality seems perfect. I have them paired with a sub8, also by kanto, and it's a great combination. They sound very clean, clear, and somewhat "punchy" by themselves, but a 6 or 8 inch sub will allow you to hear the full range of the music source. The energy saving auto-sleep works perfectly and was a requirement for me, I hate forgetting to turn things off which consume a lot of power. These go to sleep automatically when not in use and draw less than a 1/2 Watt. pros: * clean, crisp sound * great bluetooth implementation * stylish, well built * energy efficient, auto-standby consumes < .5 watts and works well * many inputs, including turntable * usb 5v charging for a chromecast audio or future bluetooth receiver * pairs very nicely with the matching sub from the same company * reasonably priced cons: * can't think of any

Sounds amazing, optical input gave issues
I was quite impressed by the sound. I am not an audiophile or any sort of expert but the speakers sounded very detailed and good, kind of like when using good headphones and you hear all the tiny details in songs. They worked with Bluetooth and aux but I could not get them to work with the optical inputs, which is why I bought them - to use as TV speakers connected via optical. I got a replacement and tried two total units and had the same issue with both. They are probably not loud enough for most people for TV viewing however and definitely need a sub for better bass production, like others have mentioned. Build quality is solid, looks great, sound quality is great. The phono connection is an excellent add-on for versatility and overall it's a good product. Would recommend but bummed the optical inputs didn't work for me. Ended up returning these but wish they got louder, as I would have kept them if they did.

Gorgeous look and amazing sound quality
After many days searching through Reddit threads and online reviews, I finally came to buy this pair of Kanto YU4 active speakers. Bought these because of the versatility and I’m so happy I did. I have a tendency to change things up a lot, and these are compact enough for different scenarios and have so many inputs that it can be used for so many applications. Phono preamp is a nice addition to the rca input, as well as 2 optical inputs, aux input, and sub output. I’m not new to kanto’s audio equipment, as I have their 5.25” passive speakers in my living room for a modest 5.1 sound system and they are so wonderful there. Lots of depth and clarity from the 5.25” speakers, and I can say the same about the YU4’s. I’m using these as something to add to my work station so I can listen to high quality music while I work to help make the workday a little more enjoyable. They do NOT disappoint, and go fairly loud. The bass response is also fairly good for their size, as stated before; it has a sub output but I don’t think it will be necessary for my use. I highly recommend these speakers and if you’re thinking about getting these, just do it! No regrets.

Just buy them, thank me later.
They are physically small, but they produce big sound. They are great speakers with excellent quality sound, with a lot of connectors, Bluetooth works as a charm, connecting in a breeze, optic cable is working awesome, remote is also great. They are enough for up to a medium size room, and they work well with phone, ipod, laptop, Sony PlayStation or smart TV. They look way more expensive than you would expect and they are well made. Great for any room or office.

Think of it as the ultimate desktop COMPUTER speaker for music enjoyment
For those who likes to enjoy music while plugged in, that (and maybe others like that) may be it. I have high quality music gears. Generally speaking, audiophile quality music and computers are mutually exclusive. I'll use my expensive dac and headphones and speakers for music enjoyments, and use the computer speakers for things like youtube. The audio gears are cumbersome to use at the same time while I am using the computer. Tried different types of computer speakers over the years but very unsatisfied. Also tried a well regarded one recently but promptly returned it. I know there's the $250 bose. However, as I own several boses I am very familiar with its sound signature and I know it probably won't sound natural to me. I resigned to use my retired soundbar coupled with a subwoofer and think that may be all I can do. Then, accidentally I browsed upon those tiny active speakers that I generally avoided since a long time ago. After much research I decided to give the yu4 a try. The fact that it's on sale also helped my decision. The yu6 should have more bass but it's too big as computer speakers and I have a subwoofer anyway. So I got the yu4 and my goodness does it sound well. While the subwoofer helped a little in the bass area, however, since the speakers are placed fairly close to my ears, the bass even with the subwoofer unactivated sounded quite deep and punchy and not muddy (to me). I even tried connecting it to my dac and amazingly it's able to output an even better sound. This is something that a regular computer speaker won't be able to do. The sound stage, imaging, clarity, are all top notch, at least for a "computer speaker". In my setup, I dial up the treble two notches and the bass one notch. The subwoofer is set to about 90Hz and 180 degrees. The only feature I hope it has is an indication on the volume setting somewhere or somehow. Switching from the computer optical link to my dac line out to aux produced a rude surprise to everyone in my house. I did take precaution, but without any indicator available I still grossly misjudged the net resulting volume of the combination. Of course when I like to listen to the ultimate I still have to go back to my other gears. But now, I can enjoy adequate audio quality while using the computer at the same time. It is very, very, convenient, and thus, satisfying.

Broken and useless
Avoid these speakers. They are flimsy junk. I got mine and volume/mode button was flopping around all over the place. I thought it was normal but after a while the button fell off and the part it attached to fell back into the speaker shell. Now I have a pair of worthless paper weights. You would think that for the over the top price for these speakers they'd at least be able to TIGHTEN A BOLT but apparently not.
