The media could not be loaded.  UPDATED REVIEW: After receiving a new lid from the seller (which came very quickly in the mail, I might add), the trash can is now working smoothly. It's perfect and just as I'd hoped. The sensor is quick, and the self-closing aspect is great. We love this trash can and appreciate how quickly the seller contacted us to resolve our issue. Overall, I would say we are very satisfied with our purchase. If you have any issues with your order, contact the seller and they are great about responding and making sure the product you purchased is as advertised.***OLD REVIEW: I was very disappointed to find, after purchasing brand new C-type batteries and putting them in the trash can correctly, following all requisite instructions, that the sensor does not work. The sensor is the whole reason I bought this trash can. If I wanted a trash can that required me to physically lift the top, I would have bought a $10 trash can from a department store. The "open" button doesn't even work. It opens about half of a centimeter and then just glitches and stays there. The "close" button works correctly, but that feature is useless if you have to open it with your hand. Overall, I would NOT recommend this product. Pay more for a more reputable brand. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

I really like this trash can! It has a motion sensor to open and then it closes automatically after 10 seconds or so. It also has a button to press to open or close it if you want to use that feature too. I'm so glad to be able to ditch my old trash can that had a foot pedal to open it. It is also pretty wide so it is easy to get your trash out without having to tug too much! It has a nice plastic rim as well to keep the garbage bag in place! Very nice trash can for the money.

Only complaint is that it says takes 4 d batteries, they don't fit so we put in 4 c batteries and they fit and works,otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

We love having this in our kitchen! When your hands are full of cutoffs from vegetables or meat, this is a lifesaver. I was concerned the batteries wouldn't last very long, but they actually last quite a long time. There must be some sort of spring assist with the lid as it seems the batteries are used to start the process, not the entire process of opening the lid. And the lid is quite lightweight.It does sometimes open if you walk close to it as you pass, but that is not a big problem.

This trash can worked semi well for about two weeks and then it lost its mind. Out of the box, I very often had to wave my hand over the sensor twice before the top would open. Other times, the motion sensor would stop working altogether and I would have to “reboot” the trash can before it would work again, which isn’t that big a deal. Now, even switching the “system” on and off isn’t working. The sensor doesn’t work at all and it just opens and closes on its own every few seconds which, as you can imagine, is very annoying. It’s a shame, really. It’s a great idea and, if someone can build one that works, I would buy one again...but only if it had a money back guarantee. I’m returning this product.

We’ve only had this trash can for a couple weeks, so I can’t speak to the durability, it so far we all love it. The ease of opening when your hands are messy or full is great. The rim bag holder allows for the can to be totally filled unlike other fold over cans. The flip up lid also allows a larger item to be in without catching on the lid. My daughter complains the auto opener works with her bottom when she leans over to put something in the dishwasher; but that’s her personal problem! Haha
