HDMI KVM that works!
Needed a new KVM because the popular one fried just after its warranty. Found this one and it's really nice and small. As a bonus, it has auto-switching when it detects a new input (so when you connect a laptop it detects it and switches to it - you don't have to fiddle with switches), and then when you do need switches it has dedicated ones for direct switching, on the unit itself, rather than a toggle to cycle across them all. Yes it has a remote like everyone else, but it's nice to see the buttons on the unit so you don't have to search for the remote.

Freaks out your PC
(I can't describe the entire question in the "Ask a Question" section... so here goes)How can I set it to fool the PC that it's still connected?I have TWO monitors connected to my PCs, And this switch is ONLY for one of the monitors, I'm not using any of the USB features. When I switch away, the PC it switches away from thinks that monitor is UNPLUGGED, and rearranges everything, and wants to reset the resolution as well. Then when I switch back, I have to push all the windows back where they belong. The old IOGear didn't do that, it somehow let the PC believe that the monitor was still connected. How do I make this unit fool the PC into thinking it's still connected when the switch is directed at a different PC.(It's not the PC, I have four, all different. And they all are doing it. It's the switch making the PC believe the monitor was completely unplugged)

Works well with minor caveats
The KVM works pretty well. Keep an eye out for the mouse switching feature, if you push the mouse off the screen in any of the four directions for 2 seconds or longer it will cause the unit to switch inputs without the beep. You have to read the manual to know this will happen. Good feature though. I would like to be able to disable it sometimes. No instructions in manual how to do that. Also scroll lock is required to do some of the keyboard functions and my reduced footprint keyboard does not have a scroll lock. Also some laptops can't handle more than so many USB hubs deep, and the KVM has at least one or two USB hubs to add to the chain. For example the mouse will not work on my Mac laptop unless you actually plug it into the KVM itself. The Mac cannot see a USB hub plugged into the KVM USB output port. But most of my Microsoft Windows computers can.

Does not support HDMI aidio
The ad mentions HDMI video, I probably should have asked, but it is video only. I had a previous unit that cost a lot less and supported video and audio.

I think I have this working with a bit of trial and error
Just got the gofanco 4 port HDMI KVM switch. I'm using a wired USB keyboard (from Keychron), a wireless Logitech MX Master 3 mouse with the unifying receiver.I have an M1 MacBook Pro and a Lenovo Thinkstation running Ubuntu 22.04 on deck. Other devices will include a machine running Windows 10 and perhaps a Raspberry Pi.I have the keyboard connected to the keyboard USB port in the back, and that works great. I had the Logitech Unifying USB receiver for the mouse plugged into the mouse port, and while that worked for the MacBook, it would not work for the Linux machine. I have the Unifying USB received plugged into one of the USB 3 ports in the front, and it seems to work for the Linux machine now (it also works for the Mac). The intent is to go to a wireless mouse and keyboard. They keyboard will be a Logitech MX Keys Mini, which requires Logitech's Bolt USB receiver. That may mean I go to a single USB dongle, moving me from the MX Master 3 to the MX Master 3s mouse.I am not using the video aspect of this KVM because the video from each machine is routed through a Blackmagic ATEM Mini video switch, but I will validate that aspect also.
