If only I'd known sooner
John, I have thoroughly enjoyed your book. Up until 2019 my wife and I owned a property near Hermanville for fifteen years. Our first visit to Normandy was in 1973 the year after we got married. We fell in love with the region immediately. We visited friends to attend their wedding in Caen. We visited the area year in year, sometimes more than once a year. I have many stories myself from veterans, too man for this message. Our friends live in Lion sur Mer, a stone's throw from the beach. I know this area like the back of my hand. They looked after our French home when we were not there. I am so sorry because I feel I could have helped you during your Search years? We went to visit in November last year to celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary and we are going again in August for a couple of weeks. I also have a friend that was a gunner on a landing craft that arrived on the 6th on Sword.

Even the hardest of hearts would have difficulty not weeping like a baby at this amazing story. Powerful, emotive, charming and an incredible tale of incredible men. 10 stars out of five x
