DMC Prism Friendship Bracelet Kit

I bought a pack of this six-strand floss because ordering the 8 colors I needed for my project from Hershnerr's would have been foolish. The charge for each skein of DMC floss is only 44 cents, regardless of color. However, the shipping charges added would have about tripled my cost for the DMC Floss. Unlike many others, I have no option to purchase embroidery floss, nor many other craft items in my local stores. Such things are either not carried at all, or the selection is very poor.Neutral:This floss, while not up to DMC standards is also not up to DMC pricing. At the price I paid for this item, my cost breaks down to about 12 cents per skein. Sometimes, you do get what you pay for. The skeins are about 8 meters long, similar the DMC skeins. I was expecting more colors with no duplications, however, in my package, most colors included are represented by two or even three skeins. The included 12 cardboard bobbins are about enough to hold one project's worth of thread.Cons:In examining some DMC floss that I purchased for a different project, I discovered that the six strands you obtain when this floss separates are finer than the DMC floss strands... finer enough that you may want to use three strands of this if the instructions for your project call for two strands of DMC. Another reviewer mentioned that the quality of these skeins makes them unsuitable for mixing this floss and DMC in the same project. I agree; however, I would never, under any circumstances, mix two different brands of floss in the same project. As noted by other reviewers, these colors are neither named nor numbered, which makes selection of your exact colors a bit difficult if you try to go by DMC numbers or color names. You can find colors in dark, medium and light shades of colors somewhere near those listed in DMC project instructions, so all is not lost if you attempt to use this floss.Pros:While this floss isn't quite as shiny as DMC, it is not, as another reviewer claimed, completely dull. It does have a subtle sheen of it's own. It is also not, as a different reviewer said, all in one thick strand. It will separate into six strands as the label claims, and does so without much difficulty. That said, this is a decent alternative for small projects, provided that you only use this floss for the entire project. If you are doing craft projects other than embroidery, such as friendship bracelets, this is a decent alternative for those other uses, at about 1/3 the cost of DMC floss.Recommended for friendship bracelets and other children's crafts, for those just learning embroidery, or, if in desperate need of a small amount of a few colors for a single (small) embroidery project to the extent that shipping would cost more than your thread if purchased from Hershnerr's

The description is correct but the image is not. The thread came with orange labels instead of blue and do not say Prism as seen in the picture. I believe the thread quality is the same.

I enjoy using this thread to make bracelets for myself. The neon colors are nice and bright. I have zero complaints. When I was younger I could only find neon thread in silk and I'd have to mix it with regular thread to get the knots to stay, so this is way more convenient and I haven't noticed any fading yet, I bought this months ago and started using it right away, I think it's been 6 months or more at this point. I had to write a bad review for another product I just bought so I wanted to even it out by leaving a good review for something I enjoy lol

Unlike DMC's Prism cotton floss, which is typically used for friendship bracelets, the neon floss is polyester and works wonderfully for stitching. Unlike DMC's Light Effects polyester, this is smooth and fluffy, and does not feel like plastic. If one were not paying attention, it could be very easily mistaken for cotton. It does not fray or fall apart the way Light Effects neon does, making it much easier to use.It comes with ten shades of assorted neon colours, plus two variegated options. Like many brands, the blues and purples do not glow well on their own, but will stand out against a black background under black or UV light.I find this floss very easy to stitch with. Because it is polyester, it resists fading or tangling. However, it does not have numbers attached, so if you intend to use this in stitching software, you will have to manually assign numbers and import them. This floss does not glow in the dark.

This is absolutely gorgeous thread, not the same 6-strand DMC thread we're used to. I don't know if it's the dye or the way the thread is twisted (each of the 6 strands is actually 2 strands), but it reflects light almost holographically. The hue seems to change subtly right before your eyes. My only complaint is that the description implies that the pack contains 106 colors. It actually contains about 35, with three skeins of most colors and 2 ombres of each basic shade. The colors aren't numbered or named, so I don't see how you can shop for more of a specific color, especially as the colors are difficult to identify because they are so light-reflecting. You couldn't do an extremely complicated embroidery piece which requires many specific colors, but for pieces like I'm doing now (pillows and totes with Aimee Ray's Doodle Stitching books, also sold on Amazon), which don't need more than two or three shades of the basic colors, it's perfect. Again, my only complaint is that I thought I would be getting more colors, so I ordered 100 bobbins and a box big enough to hold them. The thread itself is beautiful, and actually stitches more finely and smoothly than regular DMC six-strand. The price is quite good for the quality and amount of thread you're getting, if you are doing simpler designs.

Exactly as advertised these treads are bold and bright. I purchased this pack to embroider on darker colours and it is truly worth while, I would recommend them to everyone.

El paquete trae varios colores muy chulos con los cuales puedes hacer pulseras tanto para niños como adultos. Incluso hay colores que brillan con luz negra ultravioleta. Ni que decir que están chulisimos y las pulseras son preciosas. Además, trae hilos de colores degradados.

Aucun effet plastique pour ce fil qui ressemble à s'y méprendre à un fil de coton. Doux, belles couleurs fluo, les noeuds sont bien nets en bracelet brésilien. Quand on finit le bracelet par un noeud simple, celui-ci a toutes les apparences du coton : de petite taille et très serré. Avantage du polyester, on peut le brûler pour l'arrêter. Et comme il n'absorbe pas l'eau, le bracelet garde sa forme et son aspect.Un fil adapté aux bracelets brésiliens.
