Worked great horizontally!
The jack worked well for a horizontal job I had. Specifically purchased this model for that reason. Seems well made for the money. Piston retracted easily, no oil leakage, nice paint quality. The release valve is plastic of some type but no issues. No need to really tighten it that tight. Could probably use your fingers. Definitely a 5 star for the money!

Easy to use
What a great idea. I tried to use one of the usual bottle jacks horizontally and of course the fluid leaked out. I didn't realize there was a horizontal model. It's easy to use with great results.

The reason for the low review is .............
The item came in an unsealed box missing the pump handle and to get some attention I gave it a "one". Irritating to say the least. Of course, I have a bar I can jack it up with and it works fine. I have a plyers I can let it down with and that works fine. So the jack it's self works fine and for that reason, I'm not going to request a return. I understand from neighbors I'm lucky to get a working one. Others have not been so lucky with other brands from Amazon. On another note to Amazon. I don't know what is going on with the distribution center for my neighborhood, but we have been getting damaged packages or packages that are not sealed properly, or in the case of some shampoo we ordered 10 days ago lost altogether and I did request a refund on. So Amazon, you might want to check on the operations on that distribution center as it's not the drivers, it's a problem at inside the distribution center.Meanwhile, I'll keep my jack as I know I have an old bottle jack handle from 50 years ago that might work somewhere in my shed as I'm an old guy and saved stuff like that. I will also hope we get the shampoo we re-ordered to replace the one that was lost and refunded. It's due tomorrow, Tuesday January 16. Good luck to us.

Good quality and really high
I got this one to lift my truck that has a lift kit, usually the normal bottle jacks are not enough to lift the wheels from the ground because of the high suspension that has long compression length, but this one is more than enough. the price is really justified with the performance of this bottle jack, its very stable, i left my truck lifted for few hours as i was looking for parts and it held well. easy to use and sturdy.

I'm keeping it, I'm using it, but I don't recommend it
This jack can lift higher than my old floor jack, and it has a smaller footprint, which makes it very useful, and it's a good value, but really not that great as a primary jack. The handle it came with is terrible. It came in two pieces to ship in a smaller box, and they're just pipes with a pinched end that fit together with tension. The motion needed to lift the jack immediately loosens the two sections and the smaller section slides right through the handle receiver and hits the floor. My other jack handle is just slightly too wide to fit in this jack, so I can't use much leverage. The release knob is right against the floor with a rubber cover on it, I guess for finger tightening. I had to keep pliers nearby to open it, but then the jack doesn't lower all the way to the lowest position. It drops until there's no more weight on it and won't drop any further, so I have to grab the ram and try to manually push it down a little more to get it out from under the car. Now, the scary part: I noticed one of the times I was getting the jack into place that the inner ram was going up before the outer ram. I wasn't sure if that's how it was supposed to be, but once it started lifting the car, the inner ram dropped suddenly and frighteningly and then I kept going and the outer ram lifted to meet the inner ram and then it started lifting properly. I think I need to fully extend this jack and lubricate everything well.Don't use this without jack stands, but that goes for even the best jack. Don't let hydraulic oil be the only thing holding the car up if you're putting any part of your body under any part of the car.
