French Beaded Flowers - The Complete Guide

I found that this book really requires some dedicated time and focus from the reader. I had to sit down and basically read it from cover to cover and then went thru it again with a highlighter and I made some notes in the margins. There is a lot of information in it. I have not tried any of the projects in the book because they don't really appeal to me and the patterns are difficult to read. All of the projects appear to be for flowers that can be found in Alaska. That's great for some people but what about CLASSIC flowers that pretty much everyone knows and loves? Daisies, Tulips, and Roses can be found in many different colors and in many regions of the world and are probably easier to make in beaded form than most of the offerings in this book. Each design in this book calls for several different types of beads and wire. For something geared toward a beginner, the design requirements should be as minimal as possible. I found a free pattern for beginners on a website and it requires 2 colors of 11/0 seed beads and a few different types of wire. I don't want to invest a bunch of money in something that could result in a "craft-tastrophe". In general, with French Beaded Flowers, a variety of wire is required as the wire color needs to match that of the beads (as close as possible) and a couple different gauges may required for various flower components. In the book, there is only ONE photo, for each project, and that is not enough for something so complicated and intricate. The photos addressing the individual techniques, however, are very helpful. I purchased some patterns and tutorials from sellers on Etsy (with lots of photos!) when I decided this book wasn't all that user-friendly toward beginners. The book is good as a reference as it explains the techniques (I think it has ALL of them!) for making French Beaded Flowers, and the acronyms associated with each, very thoroughly. I would not rely on this book as the only source for learning how to make French Beaded Flowers.

This is a highly detailed book on making French Beaded Flowers! I’ve been making them for many years and was just looking for some other inspiration — this is a fabulous book for beginners or for experienced beaders!The packaging was VERY good! Very well protected and came in a box. Thank you!

Great book! Got this for my mom who makes really nice professional pieces & she loves it. Her work is very impressive so, if she likes the book it must be good!😍😍

This book takes a lot of the techniques and breaks them down into easy-to-understand instructions. It also has pictures to go with each instruction which really helps to see what the step is supposed to look like. I use this book as a reference when I am doing other projects. When there is a step in the project that I don't remember how to do, this book is what I go to. There are also some nice beginner projects in the back of the book.

This book may be discouraging for newer beaders. I found it very intriguing with techniques that were new to me.

I wish I could rate this book at 4.5 stars. I make French beaded flowers. I own a lots of beaded flowers books. Therefore, I may be a little bit picky. It is definitely a good book for beginners. It covers all the techniques to make beaded flowers, some may be missed in other beaded flowers books. However, if you have learned how to make the beaded flowers, you may find there is little to learn. The patterns in the thirt part are good. I wish there are more pictures in the gallery part.The spiral bounding is really great!

I really am pleased with this book it is really easy to follow, understand and there is a lot of pictures to also help you to understand what it's meant to look like. It arrived before the arrival date it was really well packaged and no damage not even a dent anywhere to be found. I am really happy with this book!!

Best instruction book in my opinion for this old craft. Easy to follow instructions.

Im Prinzip hält das Buch schon, was es verspricht: Eine komplette Einführung in die Kunst des French Beading.So ziemlich alle bekannten Techniken und noch ein paar mehr (besonders etwas exotische) sind in diesem Guide enthalten.Praktisch ist der Aufbau als Ringbuch, das man gut aufgeklappt liegen lassenkann.Eine Umrechentabelle für Inch, Feet, Yard und Zentimeter ist enthalten, aber ein wenig versteckt unten auf der Rückseite des Vorblatts.Von der Aufteilung her sollte es sich EIGENTLICH gut für Anfänger eignen, die noch nie mit der Technik gearbeitet haben und sich vom Titel auch bestimmt angesprochen fühlen.Und damit kommen wir zu den Problemen mit diesem Buch:1. Für viele einzelne Blatt- oder Blütenvarianten gibt es nur jeweils ein Foto im fertigen Zustand. Will man wissen, wie es geht, braucht man gute Englischkenntnisse, denn die Anleitung ist nur in Textform dabei. In einigen anderen Büchern zu diesem Thema gibt es komplette Bilderkurse in Schritt-für-Schritt-Form. Das hätte ich mir für dieses Buch auch gewünscht.2. Die Heißklebepistole und Kleber werden in diesem Buch vorgestellt, obwohl sie für die Technik gar nicht gebraucht werden. Die Autorin meint dazu auch "so wenig wie möglich verwenden". Nun, wozu dann überhaupt erwähnen/vorstellen?3. Die Anleitungen für die Projekte sind nicht ganz einfach. Es gibt zwar sehr, sehr ausführliche Tabellen zu den Materialien, Größen und den verwendeten Techniken- aber nur jeweils ein Foto der fertigen Blume und keine Abbildungen oder Zeichnungen der Zwischenschritte. Also muss man sich die Techniken erst "erblättern", zumal in den Tabellen auch keine Seitenangaben, wo man die Techniken finden kann, mit angegeben wurden.4. Das Zusammensetzen von Blüten und Blättern hat zwar ein eigenes Kapitel- aber leider keine Fotos bzw. Foto-Kurse. Statt dessen gibt es nur ein Bild, das beispielhaft alle für eine Blüte gebrauchten Einzelbestandteile und Materialien zeigt- und danach nur seitenlang diverse schriftliche Beschreibungen, wie man es macht.
