Marathon Mouse is the story of a young mouse who lives under the Verrazano Bridge and dreams of running the New York City Marathon. It is a story of courage and determination. But although all those important messages are present, none are heavy-handed, and what is likely to be most apparent is that it's simply a great story. Running is a sport that's accessible to most people - you don't need a lot of special equipment or a certain type of playing area or enough people to make up a team - and it can become a lifelong enjoyment that benefits health and fitness, so a little exposure to it at the picture book age may open doors kids didn't know were there. Above all, though, children will like this story for its underdog hero. They will empathize with his desire to do something special, and cheer him on in his endeavors. Marathon Mouse is an uplifting, inspiring story that kids will want to hear again and again and that adults will be happy to read. Highly recommended!

This is the sweetest story about a resilient mouse who wants to run the New York Marathon and defies all odds and does it! You'll travel with Preston as this small mouse with a huge heart prepares for the biggest race of his life. I love how this book teaches little kids about the power of having a big dream to work towards! Lots of growth mindset language happening with Preston! My son loves this book and I hope that he, like Preston, learns that you can achieve the big scary goals in your life by giving your all, not giving up and taking that risk to accomplish it!

We read this book as motivation before our marathons and sometimes just for fun. It has been a family favorite. Highly recommend.

What a great story!

A child's book that is good for adults too. An excellent story for anyone considering a marathon and how determinedyou have to be. The character is a mouse. If a human can be like the mouse, them the marathon should be a piece of cake. Good story! Highly RECOMMEND!

As a family of runners, we love Preston! This is a book that my 3 year old daughter keeps coming back to. We love to read it and talk about running races together. We highly recommend Marathon Mouse!

A very fun read, especially for a running family with young children - it's a very creative way to explain what mommy &/or daddy are doing when they disappear for "a run". It also touches on perseverance and the time, work, and energy it takes to meet your goals. Creative illustrations add to the excitement of the marathon experience.
