does what is says
This product was purchased for our child (9) who has a memory difficulty, so that she can record information given to her. She finds it very easy to use, a helpful tool for recording all sorts of sounds. We are happy with our purchase.

Little Gem - Addendum.
(This addl. info. is being added in May 2014.) At least one reviewer had commented that sometimes the playback was garbled. I discovered that in my case it has something to do with my C-RVs electrical system - if I record something while I am driving, the audio is "shattery", but still decipherable.) I have been using the smallest available voice recorders for over 30 years. I started with the Olympus microcassette tape recorder in the late '70s. I have one on my person 24/7, except when I am in bed. I find it indispensable for making notes of whatever I want to take care of later. Much, much handier than a pen and paper. Recording Time - 13 hours, 20 minutes in SP mode. 74 hours, 42 minutes in LP mode. Audio Quality - (Using internal mike - haven't tried it with external mike yet) - very good in SP mode, not as good in LP mode. Internal Mike Sensitivity - quite good. Will pick up normal voices at several feet. Power Supply - two AAA batteries. Dimensions - 3 3/4" high, 1 1/4" wide, and 3/4" thick at thickest place. Weight (with batteries) - 2.1 Oz. Features - jacks for earphone and ext. microphone. Operation - dead simple and uncomplicated - "Rec", "Stop", "Play", (+ and - for volume control, and forward and back arrows for playback), "Menu", "Display, "Erase" and "Hold". It's a bargain. A.

Awesome recorder!!
I bought this recorder so that I could record lectures of my college classes that were harder. You get like 13 hours of playtime when you record on SP which is the best quality. I made a mistake and recorded on LP once and it sounded bad. I could understand it but there were times that there was too much static that I couldn't. The quality of SP though gives you plenty of recording time and it sounds as if you are in the room still. The overall recorder is small and you can plug headphones into it so you can take it on the go to listen. There isn't a USB port though so you can't plug it into the computer to transfer files but with all the recording time it makes it easier to just keep it on the recorder. I am very happy with my purchase.
