This will be a long review but worth the read. So, I've had 3 cervical spine surgeries (4 level acdf) 2 of them following an auto accident. I've also had a shoulder & hip replacement. I have an extremely expensive memory foam IComfort bed and have gone through dozens of pillows which I thought would be the answer to all my sleeping issues.My daughter has a pretty incredible bed and the past few times I've stayed with her, I've had the best night sleep (the only good sleep) and she finally told me it was because she had purchased a mattress topper. She sent me photos (she had a 3 inch standard gel/foam topper). I set out on a mission. I had no idea how many options there were to choose from. So many claims / conflicting reviews -- I researched dozens and dozens and read dozens and dozens of reviews on each one -- Then, I came to this specific topper!! I narrowed it down to 3 different toppers and ultimately -- I purchased the Innovations Dual Layer Gel TopperI chose The Innovations topper because 1) it had more positive reviews than any other on the market 2) It came with a cover that would encompass the memory foam portion of the topper (and it's so deep that it even covers my deep queen sized IComfort Memory mattress) 3) it was a combination of the 2 types of toppers available 4) I was afraid the 2 inches would be two thin and the 4 would be too thick and felt this combination would be the perfect compromise (and it was). 5) It was extremely affordable in comparison to all of the others available. I removed the 2 piece(s) from the box and unrolled it right onto the bed.. It had no odor whatsoever and it laid out perfectly flat. I placed the 2nd topper right on top and pulled it down around the memory foam topper (which was slightly larger however it just formed around my own mattress) and then extended it down past my bed's mattress and made my bed.My first night and all subsequent night's sleep have been pretty incredible. It is slightly/noticeably higher and you do kind of fluff into the bed but not nearly as much as some of the reviews indicated. One review had me laughing so hard , it made me cry -- that I'd be literally fighting and at war with my mattress every night-- not true!!!I can say that I had the absolute worst bursitis pain imaginable following my hip replacement surgery. I really did not know that is what it was until about a year after my surgery, I went to my surgeon telling him how much pain I was in down the one side. After examining my hip and showing me xrays he indicated how perfect it looked and then did a few "touch tests which were immensely painful. I received the first of many shots right into the bursa and typically count the days till I can have the next one (about every 45 days -- until I got this topper (the last shot I received was in September) -- Before this topper, I could not sleep on that side -- EVER!! I had to lift my leg with my hands to help me turn over in bed, had to lift my leg with my hands to cross them like a lady!! Now, it's barely noticeable and I even told my husband the other day that not only has it helped my sleeping (back, neck, hip) but my pain level during the day is almost a "non issue" like it was prior to the topper --- It's pretty darn amazing!My husband has terrible hip issues and arthritis and he's the biggest Negative-Nellie there is about anything I try. He had always hated our bed but he's really loved the first days of having the topper. He has said he does feel much better since having the topper (but he needs hip surgery so his issues are different than mine).I for sure can say that the Innovations Topper solved the exact issues I needed it to solve without it being so significantly different than what I'd already had previously based on the reviews .. I hope that if I ever need another one, this exact one will still be available because I will never order any other kind. I plan to get one for every bed in my home as soon as I start to remodel and will buy them as gifts when I can. I've told everyone I can think of "my story" -- including all my Doctors, Nurses, PT's etc -- -- If there is a way for me to sell them for you, let me know! I'll be your No 1 sales person for sure!!

As I begin to write this, I realize that I must not seem cheesy, so I will get to that part later. I bought this topper for my king size bed two years ago and not only is it still perfect in every way, it has been put to the test far more than most people could ever imagine, and sadly not like certain dirty minds might think LOL, rather in an altogether different manner. Sure, I immediately purchased an ever-so-thin water resistant mattress protector elsewhere to put over it; in fact I'm on my 3rd one of those now just to be on the safe side. At this point I must say that this mattress topper immediately changed my life and especially how well I sleep as my mattress was so very hard and uncomfortable. If it ever wears out, I will definitely buy the same one again simply because it has been tried and true, and like no other. I have yet to get to that LOL ... I have recently checked (just out of curiosity) on the king size My Pillow mattress topper for $499 and wasn't at all impressed, especially for that ridiculous price, but I will only dwell on that long enough to say that (1) I hate their straps that are supposedly meant to hold it in place, (2) they would always be in the way when changing linens, and (3) the incredibly deep, durable and stretchy fitted skirt that my Sleep Innovations one has - has never once popped off, not even with extreme and heavy traffic on my bed. Again, not what dirty minds may be thinking Lol. No, I run a no-kill dog rescue/ shelter with 300+ dogs. Since it is near impossible to rehome rescued adult pit bulls being that most people think they are bad, unpredictable and possibly might turn on them, I certainly wasn't about to allow my NINE to be euthanized, so I brought them home. Since I am an older single man with no mate to yell at me, they all have eventually ended up on my bed and I always allow 4 or so of them to sleep with me each and every night. Now, if their torturing this topper by constantly probing it with their very strong feet and down and deeply into it is not the perfect and ultimate test of it's long-term endurance, then absolutely nothing else ever could be. Yes, I am telling all of you that after all of this and for two years now, this Sleep Innovations mattress topper is just as awesome as day one. I must also say that, although I have protected this topper by adding the thin, water resistant protectors, I have taken the liberty of having the fiber-fill topper part professionly laundered twice and it still looks absolutely fine and is just as comfortable as when it was brand new. I honestly just hope this particular Sleep Innovations one is still available should I ever need another. Thank you so much, Sleep Innovations!!!

I have had this product for about 5 weeks. I was like many who loved this product in the beginning, but for me the impression made from sleeping on it after just one week did not form back to its original shape so some comfort is lost. Certainly NOT a “memory” foam item. It still provides some comfort with the foam but that’s not the real problem. The real problem is when it’s time to was the white fitted cover. One washing in a very large washer and BEWARE! The white fitted cover falls apart leaving stringy particles of fiber though out the washer. What a nightmare of a day. NOT SURE IF MY WASHING MACHINE IS DAMAGED NOW? Time will tell. Cleaned our washing machine out and my husband had to snake our drain. The photo is a closeup image of what the entire cover looks like now and the fill is lumpy.Not sure how the manufacturer can sell an item that isn’t washable. No mention of dry cleaning but if that’s the answer (???) can you imagine how much it would cost to dry clean the white fitted topper when you wash your bedding? I wash our bedding 2-3 times a month. TOO EXPENSIVE if that’s the solution! BEWARE.Update: I spoke with Amazon Customer Service about the defective white topper, suggesting the seller reconsider selling this as a set. I’d like to report, although it’s been a hassle, I commend Amazon for protecting my purchase by allowing me to return the items for a full refund even though I’m a few days over my return day. Thank you Amazon.

Let me help you out & save you tons of time... I spent HOURS online researching for the best, most cost effective mattress topper & I kept coming back to this one. I also checked the consumer reviews website as I do before I make any big purchases & this rating was high. I knew to not get anything less than 3", really 4" high, since over time you would have no benefit.The first hour I received this, it was already on my bed & it was so incredibly comfy. Everything is at first though, right?! I didn't realize it then but as the days go by this just gets better & better & better. I suffer from fibromyalgia & insomnia and was desperate to find something, anything, that would help instigate & sustain a better night sleep for me.I am still bewildered some mornings when I wake up with zero lower back pain & less aching in my body. If for some reason this one ever wears out or is destroyed, I would pay twice the price for another one. That is how much I love this thing!!Unlike some of the other mattress toppers I've had, this one does not move during the night nor does it move when I slide off my bed in the morning. With many others I have owned, I have constantly needed to readjust or pull more to one side or pull it back up to the top of my bed. I have none of that hassle with this. It stays completely put. This mattress topper is all one piece and is exactly like a mattress pad only everything is built nice & tidy into this one piece and you put it on just like you would a fitted bed sheet. So you would put this on first, then make your bed as you normally would with your sheets, blanket, comforter. There is no need for a mattress pad as this is all in one piece already. So when I first put this on my bed, I looked at it & figured the reviews I read lied!! LoL! I didn't believe something that looked so simple, could provide such comfort. I was so so wrong & this is one time I am ecstatic to be wrong!!I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy this. If you're on the fence about it, just know I did hours of research & have been using this now for over a month & I am in love!! This is hands down, one of THE BEST products I have ever purchased for myself! There is no reason to stay on the fence... I'm telling you, if you're looking for a better night sleep, more comfort at night or both, this is exactly what you need!

Yeah, it's technically a "2-part" topper, but the title really makes it look like you're getting a foam topper of the thickness you choose. I guess the foam plus cotton pad is supposed to be 4" but I was disappointed to order a 4" topper and get 2" of foam plus a kind of dinky little cover. A cotton and polyester protector is not memory foam, and it doesn't really make any difference in softness. If this had said "2-inch foam topper plus protector" it would be far more accurate, and I would have ordered 3" or 4" of actual foam somewhere else.
