Polaroid: The Complete Guide to Experimental Instant Photography

Great book, but wish it had gotten an update
I have the first version of this book and preordered this hoping it had been updated; there have been a lot of changes and some new Polaroid cameras since it came out and they don’t even get a mention. It goes into depth on the impossible camera which has been replaced by newer models so if you’re picking this up because you’ve got a now or now+, you won’t get info on those cameras here.Furthermore, a lot of the techniques refer to impossible film, which isn’t made anymore, it’s now under the Polaroid originals name which could be confusing. They do work with the new Polaroid originals film, but the notes mention that only impossible film works, not Polaroid, but it’s referring to the old Polaroid film, not the currently available Polaroid originals, which is impossible film as far as this book is considered. Confusing! So if you’re wondering, things like emulsion lifts etc that say they work with impossible film seem to work with the new stuff. While it’s a great book full of great info, I was really hoping the new edition would have some new stuff, all I could find was a small publishers note at the beginning. Otherwise it’s more or less a softcover reprint. If you have the first version, I’d skip this. If you want a good book about Polaroid, Polaroid history and some projects (some use packfilm, be aware) it’s a good book and there is nothing like it on the market.
