Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Mermaids - Nintendo DS

We bought this used and are happy with our purchase.There are 12 mini games that take a couple minutes each (max) to complete.There are 2 modes-story mode and play any game.With story mode the player needs to "shout" map several times to get the map to come out of the backpack (many of the levels ask the player to shout repetitively). Ours doesn't register the shouts unless they are really breathy so we just blow into the mic instead.Play any game has the same games, but they can be played in any order.The map has 3 stops, like on the show.Each stop on the map has 3 games.The games include:Crossing the bridge the player needs to tap on the correct number in the row, counting from 1 to 9(ie first row has 1 and 2, second row has 4, 7 and 2, next row has 5, 3 and 1)If the wrong number is chosen that number disappears and Dora says to choose a different one.She counts in spanish.Getting around obstaclesMove the joystick up or down to get past objects or tap the screen to jump over. 9 objects to pass, Dora counts in spanish as the objects are passed.Tapping gamesContinue to tap the screen (seems like 40 taps) until the level is complete.Shouting gamesDiego asks the player to shout something into the mic to get the dolphins to come overTap a piece of garbage and shout for Swiper to pick it upPicking up garbageHardest game- different colored mermaids swim to the front and a pile of garbage of the same color needs to be tapped and brought to the mermaid before the mermaid swims away6 mermaids/piles of garbageCrabs carrying garbage zoom around the screen (beach), the garbage needs to be tapped and brought to the garbage bag.This is the first video game for 5yo and she enjoys it. She played the story version first and completed it pretty quickly, but plays the play-any-game mode now and only plays her favorite levels.This review took longer to write than it takes to complete the game.

My 5 year old granddaughter loves this game. It is easy for her to do all by herself and does notrequire reading help. The only drawback is that it requires the user to do a lot of talking intothe speaker. If you are looking for a quiet game this is not a good choice, but it is easy to play!

I bought this game for my 3 year old daughter after reading all of the positive reviews on it. We tried to let her play other games, but some were just too hard for her to play. The games on here are easy and she has a lot of fun playing them. The games all have the same rotating themes so if your kid is over the age of 5 they may get bored with it quickly. I am going to buy her another Dora game for the DS because we like this one so much. =)

My seven-year-old daughter had fun playing this game, but beat the game in around 15 minutes. The price is ridiculous considering that there are plenty of better Dora-themed games that can be played free online.

Our 4 year old preschooler gets a kick out of this game!

This game is ridiculously easy, which is exactly what I was looking for. We recently acquired an old DS for my 3 year old daughter, who loves to copy her older sister, but is absolutely unable to play her sisters games without driving me nuts asking for help.She's able to navigate this game all on her own though! It's a great educational game, teaching counting and all those wonderful preschool necessities... The only downside is Dora's voice, but really, it's come to be expected.
