nice product but not for this grill
i got this as a christmas present about 2 years ago so i've had some time to get to know it.pros: don't get me wrong - grill grates is a great company and the material used is top notch. i really like having half of it flipped as a griddle and the other half as classic grates as this thing comes in severeal sections that interlock to form the final piece. this grill sucks for heat output so it takes forever to get hot enough to get a good sear, and then once you do it takes forever to heat back up again, but that isn't grill grate's problem, it's because i have a crappy grill. i've gotten my grill plenty hot for searing and i don't have any warped pieces.cons: this was put on my christmas list because i believed it would REPLACE my existing, pain in the butt, cast iron grates. it does not. it sits on top of them. poorly i might add. they slide around on top of the existing grates so much i get mad about it. why do they slide around? because if you perfectly center it there is about an inch gap all around the product so it has a lot of room to move. if you do push it all to one side then you can't shut the lid completely. in addition there is nowhere to put the extra back grate that sit on top of/inside of the existing grates. so i have to find some place for it for storage. in the meantime my cast iron grates are disintegrating underneath this thing because it rarely gets grease on it. i suppose that is the anti-flare up part of the marketing and it works for stainless grates but not cast iron, which die a slow death without being constantly oiled.and what about the parts that come off the food and stick to the grill as you cook it? you have to push them to the front of back and then find something to do with them later. they do not fit down any holes in the grates so i always have a collection of food charcoal floating around.i found no use for the neat little utensil that came with it other than pushing charred food chunks out from between the grates. i know it's for flipping stuff on the grates but anything i flip that i need to get under i use the griddle side and the other side is only for things that a tong takes care of. it's a neat tool but nearly useless in my opinionas expensive as these things are, and as weird of a fit that they are, i would suggest spending the money on stainless grate replacements and not some frustrating halfway grates
