Solid construction and good overall sound reproduction
== IntroductionMy search for the perfect Bluetooth speaker based on combination of price and performance continues. When I found out that COWIN, manufacturer of a couple of speakers I really like released the COWIN 6110, I immediately made the purchase and was very excited to find out how it compares to my other Bluetooth speakers. Continue reading below to find out.== PackagingPackaging of the COWIN 6110 is similar to the packaging of other COWIN products. The retail-like box carrying the precious cargo is wrapped in plastic. Inside the box, the speaker resides in its own cutout to protect it from damage during transit. Between the cutout and the box are the literature and accessories.== Package Contents1 – Bluetooth Speaker1 – Charging Cable1 – Auxiliary Cable1 – Strap1 – User Guide1 – Thank You Card1 – Donation Notification Card1 – Thank You Letter== ControlsThe controls are conveniently located on the right side with the speaker facing the user. Controls include the power, Bluetooth, - (minus), + (plus) and play/pause buttons. Between the Bluetooth and the minus buttons is the microphone. The Bluetooth button activates pairing mode (only needed when you have difficulty pairing the speaker with your device). The minus button is used for reducing volume (short press) and going to the previous track (press and hold). Similarly, the plus button is used for increasing volume (short press) and going to the next track (press and hold). The play/pause button is used for playing/pausing/resuming a song as well as answering/rejecting/ending a call. The charging and auxiliary ports together with the micro SD card slot are located on the back close to the controls and appropriately covered for splash resistance purposes.== PerformancePairing the 6110 with an iPhone 7 Plus was straightforward. After powering the speaker (pairing mode automatic with power on), MD-6110 appeared on my phone. A tap and a few seconds later, pairing was done, confirmed with a tone on the speaker.Weighing 14.3 ounces, the 6110 is slightly heavier compared to similarly-sized speakers in my collection. While slightly heavier, the 6110 is portable and feels durable at the same time. Construction is solid. A strap is included for carrying purposes. Now to the most important part, audio quality reproduction. My standard test track of a basso vocalist accompanied by two acoustic guitars, a flute and a clarinet sounded beautiful. The basso vocals were smooth. Clarinet and flute were sweet and the highest frequency from one of the acoustic guitars was crisp. Bass drum from another test track produced a satisfying punch. From a sound quality reproduction perspective, this speaker performs about the same as Anker’s Soundcore 2. It is loud, easily filling my 20 feet x 20 feet garage with sound. I also could not help but compare this speaker with Meidong’s MD-2110. The MD-2110 outperforms the MD-6110 in terms of overall sound quality reproduction especially with middle and high frequencies. However, the MD-6110 outperforms the MD-2110 in low frequency response, producing noticeably more bass.Bluetooth range test result was as expected. Sound did not cutoff until the phone and the speaker were about 30 feet apart (no obstacle in between).Phone test result was good as well. Audio was clean. Both the caller and I were able to communicate with each other clearly. Calling the last number dialed on the phone paired with the speaker is accomplished by pressing and holding the play/pause button. This would normally be accomplished by double pressing the play/pause button with other speakers so keep this in mind.== Pros• Good audio reproduction• Rugged and durable• Loud with excellent low frequency response (more bass)• Includes a carrying strap• Good price• COWIN donates 1 USD to UNICEF if the purchaser leaves a product review== Cons• None== ConclusionCOWIN’s MD-6110 is a very good speaker for its price. I’m happy with the purchase and would gladly recommend this speaker to family and friends. Ideal for general use, most users would probably not notice the difference in sound quality reproduction (emphasis on mids and highs) between the 6110 and the 2110 but would definitely notice the added bass and louder volume of the 6110. Similar speakers to consider when looking at COWIN’s 6110 is Meidong’s MD-2110 and Anker’s Soundcore 2.

... take this to work with me every day and enjoy the great quality sound
I take this to work with me every day and enjoy the great quality sound. I have owned a Bose in the past, this is the closest I can find that comes to the quality with a much lower price tag. Love it!!

Decent BT Speaker at a Decent Price
Prior to ordering this speaker I had only used one portable BT speaker was a knock-off of a popular brand. That speaker is no longer portable so I was in the market for something new. After spendimg the last 4-5 days with the speaker I can say that I do enjoy the speaker and it's a pretty good value at it's current price point.Portability seems great- it's small and compact enough that I could probably fit it in my pocket if I wanted to. It did come partially charged. I charged it right after it arrived and have probably used it for 4-5 hours since without it dying. The speaker has a plastic exterior which seems on-par with other BT speakers. It's definitely no eye sore but isn't winning any design awards either. After having used it in a few different rooms/environments sound quality and volume is largely dependent on placement. This may seem fairly obvious but I was surprised by how much of an impact placement had. The sound is pretty clear and the highs through mid bass sound decent. The bass was definitely the most impacted by placement. Sometimes I was surprised by how much bass there was and other times it was really lacking.Bluetooth pairing was quck and easy. BT range seems ok. I did have some intereference with the walls in my home. I would have loved if this had support for chromecast as I will likely use it at home.

Meh
So far it is an alright product. I have loved this company's headphones. They are amazing. BUT, their speaker is alright. Not the best, but not the worst. Sadly, it doesn't get too loud. Yes, the sound is crisp and clear, but I like my music loud. Over all, it is an alright product.

Not Bad, But The Price Is Too High
Not a bad little speaker. For the size, it is reasonably accurate in reproducing sound. I am listening to it through an Audioengine USB DAC on the laptop to MP3 files that I know well. The $50 price for this unit is too high though, so I give it only 3 stars. You can do better with the lower priced Anker SoundCore 2 which gives you better mid range and more convenient button location.

Just turned 2 years old and it dies within one minute after turning on.
We paid $49.99 for this for our 10 year old son's bday and after 2 years, it no longer works for more than one minute. Won't stay charged. Not worth the $50. I've spent the same amount on portable speakers from the apple store and they still work great after 5 years!

Clean sound, good bass
What a great, clean sound that comes out of this speaker. Durable, and convenient to bring with you wherever. Not too big, not too small but just right to bring wherever. I keep it in the car and will bring it on our travels, pack in a suitcase or a bag to bring along.

Good for the size / price
I am using this with my phone as a clock radio replacement. It's on the small size for a normal bluetooth speaker, but it's not lightweight, and feels very solid. Sound is good for it's size/price, high and midrange are good with base a little weak but there. volume is good for a small room like my bedroom but it's weak for larger rooms or when battling background noise like my office. The 16 watt rating must be one of the PMP fake ratings.Controls are on the end, the standard +/- play and bluetooth are black on black embossed on the rubber end plate and are hard to read. Power and the one indicator light are in the center. The light is kind of dim (good for the bedroom, but not in daylight) red charging, blue paired, purple for both. The ports (usb charging / 3.5" audio / TF card) are under a rubber cover that is a bit hard to open. Short USB and 3.5mm cables are included as well as a wrist strap. I have not tested the TF card function. The manual is not very good. It's of the mini folded up bit of paper type and is only in English. They list the blue LED as green. They say "Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision"One point says "Do not attempt to open the rechargeable battery or battery pack. There are no serviceable parts inside". And the very next point is "Should the battery leak, ... clean the battery compartment immediately" like it's some cheap AA cell or something. Next "keep battery out of reach of children...if swallowed..." The translation is often awkward. Other than a label on the diagram there is nothing about the TF card slot in the manual at all. When I checked the listed support website they don't even list this model speaker.

It s provide a great sound and all 5 members of the family agree ...
Really please by this product. It s replacing the basic speaker of a 3 years old Sony TV, after few weeks we no longer use the basic speaker. It s provide a great sound and all 5 members of the family agree that the general sound (voice, music, sound effect) of this little speaker is better than the basic tv speaker. Of course it s not a home cinema sound system, you can t expect that much...but for the price we have no complaint. Just hoping it will last at least few years. We have to recharge it every two days but it work many hours.

Good value, but not detected by MacBook Pro
Very nice speaker, it also has a wired auxiliary input. The only problem I have is that its Bluetooth broadcast does not get detected by my 2012 MacBook Pro (Retina) although it does get detected by my iPhone 6s+, hence I have to resort to a wired audio connection.

easy bluetooth pairing
It's okay, easy bluetooth pairing, good quality speakers, and good sound quality. However, I get intermittent connection issues between the speakers and my iphone, cause the sound quality to degrade for a couple seconds while it reestablishes a connection.
