UPDATE: After a few days I bought a water bucket to put it as it was emptying itself after a day and weirdly it now works much better and does not need direct sunlight. I still wish there was more of the plastic tubes but its working fine, even on a cloudy day, looks good at night. Everything has to be perfect for this to work well. It's a good idea which in practice works but only just for me. It looks good at night, lights up nicely and works for a couple of hours at most for me. It needs to be placed in a position where it maximises the Suns rays, if it's not in direct sunshine you will get nothing from it apart from the odd squirt now and then. You only get one set of the plastic straws that keep it in the middle so be careful cutting to size! I have it in a plastic fake half barrel approx 45cms diam and every fountain type gives too much overspray outside the barrel so it eventually empties the water out, when it gets to low it will capsize so I'm topping it up twice a day! In a pond in 12 hour sunshine it would be great but as I have it it's just okay at best and a little annoying. Manufacturer, please supply extra straws with it so we can get it right and make a fountain that goes straight up in a very narrow pattern then it will be better.

It definitely needs full sun to have the max output for the spray. Stops working at dusk until it’s fully dark and lasts well into the night with a smaller spray. Colors are gorgeous.

OK, its a solar fountain and generally it does as described but often as the motor is so small it blocks up the filter inside and stops working completely - not great - even in a swimming pool it tends to stop working even after a day of complete sunshine- look good when working but think the design needs looking at to avoid the clogging up of the tiny fan inside. hence 2/10

It's very pretty. It needs a lot of sunlight to get it going the lights are very pretty at night if it's had good daylight. It doesn't last very long once it gets dark
