Every writer can use this book!
I'm a new writer and aspiring author. I didn't have a clue where/when/how to look for markets that would reach my target audiences. There's so much information here: how to write query letters, magazine formats, contests; really, any and all info. a writer -needs especially a new one. I enjoy handling this big, comfortable-size book, making notes in the margins, placing sticky notes where I need them. It has become my go-to manual.

An Amazing Resource for Writers of All Levels
This is an amazing resource for established and aspiring writers. The articles at the beginning of the book make the listings in this guide easier to use. There are so many lanes within the writing world and, if you don't know what you're doing, it's easy to get lost. Each article is written by an "expert" in their respective lane of writing which makes it all the more awesome.I love when a new Writer's Market comes out each year because it keeps me up-to-date.I would recommend this reference guide to anyone who is trying to correctly break into the writing game or for that person who may have stepped off the path.

Good Enough
It's been years, maybe 2 decades, since I last bought one of these babies, and boy have things changed. The articles are better, but the publication listings are meager compared to years past. I guess this just goes to show how many magazines have gone out of business, but I also can't help but notice there are several magazines that I either subscribe to or have seen on the stands that are not listed in this edition. Not sure what that's all about. In some future edition, they should think about including online venues such as Salon and The Onion and other popular sites that pay writers. Still, this is helpful and worth the price tag.

My go to book for learning how to write and publish a book.
I love this book so much. It's one of the many books I read for information about writing and publishing a book. It has amazing information on the industry. 100% would recommend. Out of the many books I have read on the writing industry this is in my top 10.

An excellent resource I couldn't be without
A great resource - as always. I don't update every year. Since I doublecheck editor names etc before I submit anyway, I don't feel that I need a new copy every year. But yet, I miss a lot of the informative articles that way. Maybe I need to rethink my decision.

I still consult with this
I still consult with this today. I probably should see if there's a new one out. I really find their salary section particularly helpful as a freelancer.

Most Trusted Guide
I had taken a course on how to write a query letter, but this book was more helpful than the course. It is well organized, full of essential information, and easy to use. I can see why it is the most trusted guide.

A lot in here but they leave a lot out as well
There a ton of magazines that Writer's Market does not cover. I find it unreasonable that so many state and local magazines are covered but there are a ton of national trade magazines that pay better than local or state magazines. That is not to say that Writer's Market is not a good resource for writers but it leaves so much to be desired. I write only non-fiction and write for a lot of trade magazines that are not in this book. These magazines pay from $300-500 per article averaging 750 words. You guys really need to step up your coverage of trade magazines. The reviewer is a writer and marriage, relationship and sexual coach and is the author of the Kindle book entitled:Sex Education For Adults Secrets To Amazing Sex and Happily Ever After Too
