SKIL Worm Drive Saw Lubricant, Black- 80111

Inherited an older Skil saw for drive that was low on oil plus had probably never been changed in its life went with this as it was recommended replacement by the OEM easy to swap out and refill have only used in testing so far, but it looks to be exactly what was required. I should also note that a single tube while relatively small would probably complete at least six or eight oil changes on the saw.

Just as I expected, but the tube was way bigger than I imagined! Very pleased! Arrived early too!

If you have a worm drive circular saw. This is a must. Don't use standard oil. The detergents will damage the yellow metal gears.

The right stuff.

I bought an old Skil 77 years ago for rough demo work and to cut pallets apart for firewood. It really is a workhorse of a saw, but it weighs as much as a small car so I only drag it out when I need it. My saw had been heavily used/mildly abused when I got it. I have no idea what they filled the gearbox with (it looked like grease) but I immediately flushed it out and refilled it with gear oil. I used it this way for a few years and never had a problem. A couple of years ago the saw needed some attention (a new cord and some general cleanup). I took the opportunity to flush the gearbox out again and FINALLY bought the correct lube for it. The saw works as flawlessly as it did before, but I have a little more peace of mind. I'm not sure if Skil used any brass parts inside the gearbox of this saw, but some GL5-spec gear oils are allegedly incompatible with brass so I'm glad I flushed the gearbox out just in case. When I drained the old oil out I checked it for debris or metal particles and found none, but why tempt fate? As of this writing a tube of this oil is $6. I filled my saw up and have some left over. For the price I've paid, I consider this oil a worthwhile investment. That old saw will likely outlive me.

Easiest way to find the right lubricant for my saw.

I bought a vintage Skilsaw 77 worm drive saw from a pawn store. It was in pretty good shape physically. The cord wasn't nicked up and in good shape, but the cord guard was dry rotted, so I ordered a new one. It definitely shows signs of being used as it should. I checked the brushes and they were like new, but the oil in the gear box was almost non-existent and what was in there was dark and thick. I ordered this Skilsaw brand lubricant(oil) to replace the old oil. Now the saw sounds perfect and runs good. I haven't used it yet but will as I have some projects this spring/summer.

This oil is made specifically for worm drive saws. It worked great for me and there is plenty left over.

The best for any SKIL worm drive saw. Enough product for 2-3 oil changes. Noticeable difference in overall saw noise with fresh oil, a cheap product to keep a high quality product running well!
